How to Install Zune QuickPlay for Windows 7:

1. Download Zune QuickPlay for Win 7 – (Links: Dark or Light)

2. Extract ‘Zune_QuickPlay_for_Win7_by_giannisgx89.rar’

3. Go to Extras – ‘Uxtheme Patch’ folder and right click ‘UniversalThemePatcher-x64.exe’ (choose x86, if you are running 32-bit operating system) and click ‘Run as administrator’ from the context menu.

4. Click all the three patch buttons and restart your computer.

5. Now go to the ‘Themes’ folder and copy ‘Zune QuickPlay.theme’ and ‘Zune QuickPlay’ folder to ‘C:/Windows/Resources/Themes’

6. Double click ‘Zune QuickPlay.theme’ to use the theme

If you want to customize it even further to give a complete Metro UI feel, install Rainmeter and get fediaFedia’s Omnimo 3 for Rainmeter. It is a Windows Phone 7 inspired desktop information application which gives titles feel of a Windows 7 Phone on your desktop.

How to Install Omnimo 3:

1. Install Rainmeter (if you already have Rainmeter, then skip this step)

2. Double Click Omnimo.rmskin file.

3. It will take one or two minutes to extra, and guided setup will take care of the rest.

How to Make Your Own Custom Theme with Background Image:

1. Just log into your Gmail account, and go to Themes Tabs in your Settings.

2. Choose “Create Your Own Theme”, and you’ll see a pop-up like this:

3. You can customize the color scheme and choose your own background image either from Picasa or upload it from your computer.

4. Now Choose the alignment and Tiling (if your image is small, and you want it to repeat across your screen)

Unlike most Firefox theme however, Firefox 3 theme requires a bit of tweaking to get that exact same look and feel. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Install the Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4, and restart your browser
2. Right click somewhere near the tabs and click “Customize..” from the drop down menu.
3. Click “Restore Default Set” from the Customize Toolbar Screen.

Replace Firefox Menu button with the standard Menu Bar from Firefox 3:

Right click near the tab area again, and check “Menu Bar”. Go to the Customize Toolbar Screen again (Right click > “Customize..”) and drag the Home icon to the left side of the location bar.

Click on “View” > “Toolbars” and check “Add-on Bar”, un-check “Tabs on Top” from the same menu.

There you have it! All the speed and sync benifits of Firefox 4, but with look and feel of Firefox 3.

Microsoft has released 14 sponsored themes, which promotes famous brand names like Bing, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Ferrari, Porsche, Zune etc.

Users don’t have to pay anything to download these themes, but looks like Microsoft is charging companies to promote their brand using Windows 7’s themes functionality. Nevertheless, its clever way to keep users happy at the same time make some money.

From the screenshots, the planned Vista theme looks a lot like Internet Explorer 7 with the same forward/backward icons. Likewise, the OS X version of Firefox 3 would resembles a lot with Safari. Linux will probably have a native theme as well, but this is going to be hard as Linux comes in variety of flavors.

I think this is step in the right direction to retain more users, but at the same time, it will be hard for those using Firefox across different platforms. For instance, I use both Vista and Ubuntu on my laptop, but I use XP on my desktop, which means… i’ll have to get used to three different themes of Firefox. I hope, they add an option switch back to the standard theme, just like how it looks today.
