While newer Symbian handsets like the Nokia 701, 700 etc came with Belle onboard, others have had to wait. But now it seems like the wait is over, at least for Nokia 500 fans with the company rolling out the Symbian Belle (or as Nokia likes to call it, Nokia Belle) update for the mid ranged handset. The Nokia 500 isn’t one of the best smartphones out there, but Belle will take it easy on the device.

The update should now be available in your region, so wait no further and get it on your device. We know how different Symbian Belle is from Anna, with some Android’esque features that were briefly discussed when it was launched. I generally liked the idea of Symbian Belle, but as many would have expected, the Lumia star shone too bright for Belle handsets to be even considered in the mix. No doubt, Anna and Belle handsets are still selling pretty well in certain markets where Nokia has a stronghold, but not as much as Nokia would have wanted. Despite all the downfalls of the Nokia 500, we think you should give the update a try. Check for the update on Nokia’s Software Updater.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Nokia E6 Up For Pre Order On Amazon and Nokia India

The Nokia X7 Launched In India For Rs 22,000

Nokia N8 Successor To Be The Last Of Its Kind : Rumor

This article, Nokia 500 Getting The Belle Update, was published at TechBuzz. Be it the cheesy Valentine’s Day greeting for AT&T or the announcement of new smartphones and feature phones in the market, the company is always up for it. And now it seems like the Finnish brand will continue the flow at MWC as well. Reports from a couple of sources suggest that the company could be looking to launch three new smartphones as well as three new Asha Symbian S40 series phones. Earlier in the day, it was reported that three feature phones would break cover but now we have a hint that it’s the Asha series which is Nokia’s new range of feature phones announced last year. Feature phones like the Asha 302, 303 and 202 are said to be ones prepping for an announcement.

As for the smartphones, we haven’t been able to gather any info yet. Nokia could be holding off the mystery smartphones until the very last minute so as to not give away the surprise. But ever since the Nokia Sea Ray “incident”, we’re always looking for leaks on the web especially if it’s Nokia. It is believed that a global version of the Lumia 900 will be the key device that will break cover at MWC. Then there’s the relatively unknown Nokia 808 which is said to be a Nokia Belle smartphone with a game changing camera on board. Lastly, the Lumia 610 which apparently will be the company’s way to hit out at the low end segment. We’re not sure if the company will launch any of these devices, but as the days go by our faith in these rumors only grow stronger. It will be interesting to see how things go at the highly awaited annual mobile meet.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Nokia to Launch 40 New Phones in 2011; No WP7 phone till 2012

Nokia Dumping Symbian as the OS for N-Series Phones?

Zoom Telescope for Nokia, Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones

This article, Nokia Launching Three Smartphones Along With Three New Asha Phones At MWC, was published at TechBuzz. And Nokia has come a long way post the launch of the handset. Today the company’s primary focus is on making Windows Phone 7 smartphones. And the company has been successful to an extent in making an impact in the market. This however means that the Symbian platform is not the primary operating system for Nokia devices, even though the number of Symbian devices is more.

Recent reports suggest that Nokia is looking to ditch Symbian once and for all after the successor to the Nokia N8 arrives. The alleged successor apparently will be the last Symbian smartphone by Nokia. We recently learnt that Nokia will be dropping off the Symbian name from its updates. So it could mean that future updates (like Carla and Donna) will have Nokia as the prefix. So this could just be the last Symbian branded phone, but not the demise of the platform itself. But the theories haven’t been confirmed yet, so we might have to wait to hear more about this from Nokia. It was reported last year that Nokia will be outsourcing Symbian development to Accenture. So Symbian still might have some fight left.

Note: The image is a rumored render of the Nokia N8’s successor.

Stories you may like:

Nokia E6 Up For Pre Order On Amazon and Nokia India

Three UK Reveals the New Nokia X7

The Nokia X7 Launched In India For Rs 22,000

This article, Nokia N8 Successor To Be The Last Of Its Kind : Rumor, was published at TechBuzz. And there are enough reasons to prove that faction. We think that Nokia’s inability to live up to the market conditions has cost the company dearly. But now it almost seems like Nokia is set to prove everybody wrong. The company has had a great month so far with the announcement of the Nokia E6, Nokia N9 and N950 along with the unexpected unveiling (leak) of the Nokia Sea Ray (the company’s first Windows Phone handset). And now the company has launched another new handset in the form of the Nokia X7.

The X7 will be a Symbian Anna running handset with a relatively bigger 4 inch AMOLED display with scratch proof Gorilla Glass display, an 8MP camera capable of HD video playback and recording, a 680 MHz processor (nothing new there), 320MB of internal storage with an 8GB microSD card. The handset is priced at Rs 21,999 which makes it slightly overpriced.

Nokia endorses the X7 as a gaming oriented handset which means that Nokia could well be targeting the young with this handset. Dubbed as high definition gaming device, games from EA Games can be downloaded for the X7 from the Ovi Store. The bigger display real estate will certainly add to the fun. Usability wise the Nokia X7 is an upgrade over the other Symbian handsets mainly because of Symbian Anna. With Symbian Anna, users apparently will see improvements in the stock web browser, in terms of speed and usability. We’re not sure if these minor improvements are worth Rs 22,000, but well that has been the case with any Nokia handset in the past. We wouldn’t be surprised if the handset sells like hotcakes in the country with India being one of Nokia’s prime markets. But with the advent of Android, users have become slightly picky over smartphones. So Nokia cannot ride on the N8’s success this time around. Nokia Priority Dealers will sell the handset for the price mentioned above.

Stories you may like:

Nokia E6 Up For Pre Order On Amazon and Nokia India

Teaser Video for the Nokia N9 Shows Key Elements of The Device

The Nokia C7 ORO Will Cost You $1635; What?

This article, The Nokia X7 Launched In India For Rs 22,000, was published at TechBuzz. Users will be able to grab the E6 on Amazon for $450.

The E6 is also up for pre order in India where Nokia has a very strong base. Nokia India has listed the device for pre order and has listed the device at Rs 17,999 ($400 USD approx). The Nokia E6 is the first device to come with the Symbian Anna platform which has been dearly expected. The Anna update has been rightfully dubbed as the saving grace for Nokia and Symbian. Let’s hope that’s the case for Nokia. The E6 will feature a 2.46 inch display with a TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 640×480 pixels, an 8MP camera capable of recording 720p HD video (24fps), a 600MHz processor, 8GB of internal storage, 256MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Three UK Reveals the New Nokia X7

India over takes US as Nokia’s Second Largest Market

Teaser Video for the Nokia N9 Shows Key Elements of The Device

This article, Nokia E6 Up For Pre Order On Amazon and Nokia India, was published at TechBuzz. And from the video, it almost looks like a new iteration of Symbian (Symbian Anna perhaps) is on board rather than MeeGo as it was previously rumored. And now, looking into the technical aspect of the device, the N9 boasts a 12 MP camera which seems like the highlight of the device. The Nokia N9 earlier was approved by FCC with supoort for T-Mobile AWS bands which suggested that the device could make its way to the U.S.

The Nokia N9 was a device rumored from a long time, preliminary pictures of the device came out right after the Nokia N8 was launched. Which made us think that by now, it would be lost in the wind. But with this teaser video of the device, Nokia has finally marked its arrival. It would be interesting to see if Nokia manages to launch the device with Symbian Anna which is supposed to change the way Symbian looks, well the browser and the UI i.e . But we cannot rule out the possibility of Nokia surprising us all by launching the device with MeeGo. There were rumors surrounding in the internet about this transition, and now Nokia has formally confirmed this. This apparently is an attempt by Nokia to strengthen its recognition. This change will not take much time to come into effect. Nokia plans to start the process from July and wishes to finish it by the end of 2012. The Chief Marketing Officer of Nokia, Jerri DeVard speaking to the company’s blog said – “By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture”, he further added – “The reasons for this decision include the fact that Nokia is a well-known and highly-loved brand the world over. Our mobile experiences are tightly integrated with our devices,”

The Ovi Web Service was started in 2008 by Nokia in an attempt to personalize and simplify the user experience. And now with the transition, Nokia has ditched Ovi. Lets hope things end up well for the Finnish giant.

Stories you may like:

Indian Government to Block Nokia’s Push E-mail Services

Three UK Reveals the New Nokia X7

The Nokia C7 ORO Will Cost You $1635; What?

This article, Nokia to Rebrand Ovi Web Services, was published at TechBuzz. This device known as the Nokia C7 ORO is a handset worth a whopping $1635. What’s so special about this handset you might ask. Well, this device is partially made of 18K Gold. The back has has a Bridge of Weir leather covering, while the keys on the front are made of scratch proof sapphire crystal. The only common thing you’ll find about this device and other regular smartphones would be the Gorilla Glass Display. The word ORO stands for gold in Spanish and Italian.

Other than the ‘fancy’ features we just mentioned, the C7 ORO would run like a regular C7 you find in the market. With a 3.5-inch AMOLED display, 8MP camera on the back capable of recording 720p video, a 680 MHz processor and will run on Symbian^3. This device will make its way to Russia first followed by other countries later. The C7 ORO is very luxurious and well crafted, but it isn’t something that a regular user would buy. One thing’s for sure, the C7 ORO is certainly not going to get Nokia back on track with its competitors. Devices are being leaked on a regular basis. We saw the Nokia T7-00 being revealed a week ago, and now it seems like Three UK have officially revealed a new Nokia device just 2 days prior to Nokia’s Online Event. Three UK have uploaded a video on YouTube revealing the device and explaining some of it’s hardware.

The phone looks very neat from the outside with a slightly curved body. The device also features a larger 4-inch AMOLED display like the Nokia E7 and an 8MP camera on the back, the demonstrator also claims that the basic Symbian^3 UI has been updated and is now faster than before, also updated is the Symbian browser which apparently is 3 times faster than its predecessors. Nothing much is revealed apart from this. But could a faster UI and browser mean that the device will sport a new CPU? No, we don’t think so. Because Nokia has been going for the 680 MHz processor since quite some time now, and to be honest that has been the deal breaker for them. A processor of that caliber just doesn’t match up to those mighty 1 Ghz beasts, which by the way will be outdated in some time when dual-core CPUs make their way into the market.

These few updates to the UI seem very new and refreshing, but are these changes too little too late? With Symbian’s death almost near, we think these changes should have come a long time ago.

Stories you may like:

Nokia to Launch 40 New Phones in 2011; No WP7 phone till 2012

Nokia and Microsoft form an alliance

India over takes US as Nokia’s Second Largest Market

This article, Three UK Reveals the New Nokia X7, was published at TechBuzz. This basically changes your phone’s feature of just showing the time when the display is off, to actually showing you notifications like missed calls, messages and even the reminders you set on your calendar. Surrounding this is a very well crafted UI which makes the phone look ever so cooler when the display is turned off. This feature is available for most Symbian^3 devices out there like the N8, E7, C7, C6-01. The Nokia Sleeping Screen is compatible with Symbian^3 SW and also with devices running on Qt v 4.6.4 and 4.7.2.

The time and date will be visible like before, and there’s also a night clock mode which dims the brightness to save juice on your battery. And Nokia Beta Labs mentions a low power consumption, especially when the screen is turned off when the display is covered. There’s a minor flaw though. When the Nokia Sleeping Screen is running the torch-light app wont work. Besides this, the Sleeping Screen is a neat app, keeping you informed with missed calls and text message notifications.

[PhoneScoop]

Stories you may like:

Nokia to Launch 40 New Phones in 2011; No WP7 phone till 2012

Nokia Dumping Symbian as the OS for N-Series Phones?

Could Nokia embrace Android?

This article, Nokia Introduces Sleeping Screen with Text and Call Notifications, was published at TechBuzz. Why not? S60 is growing old, Nokia is losing its ground for iPhone and Android powered phones in US and Europe. Symbian is falling short of “goodies” to fight its competition.

Nokia’s official response to this leak was “Any speculation on what our 2012 roadmap, including operating systems and product branding, are completely premature”. Considering the fact that Nokia spent $410 million to buy the remaining share of Symbian and loaned out another $630 million to improve the operating system, such a statement was greatly anticipated, keeping share-holder’s sentiments in mind.

Nokia seems to be impressed with the response their latest Maemo powered N900 is receiving from consumers and bloggers. It makes perfect sense for them to play around and try new opportunities. NSeries looks like an ideal test ground for Nokia to experiment Maemo OS and try winning the market share back from iPhone and other bling-bling Android phones.

Nonetheless, I don’t see Symbian dying anytime sooner or later. Not at least with such a large footprint of consumers, developers and applications. ESeries and XSeries will continue to breed using Symbian and Nokia will support both operating systems with Ovi Store and Maemo Select. Positively speaking, by 2012, if the world doesn’t end, we’ll see Maemo marketplace filled with applications to make it a mainstream success.

Stories you may like:

Over 100 Million S60 Devices Shipped by Nokia

Zoom Telescope for Nokia, Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones

Nokia unveils New Multimedia Phones

This article, Nokia Dumping Symbian as the OS for N-Series Phones?, was published at TechBuzz.
