A Foxconn HR has mentioned that the new iPhone will arrive in October, getting all the fans excited. What makes it more interesting is the fact that it’s coming straight from the production unit. This however doesn’t make the news instantly believable, so you might want to take it with a pinch of salt which is what you should do with most rumors.

The head of human resources at the company’s Taiyuan unit said – “We just got the order. It [the release] will be around October”. And when asked about hiring more workers he went on to say, “Yes, it’s true we are hiring a large number of workers,”. It seems like Foxconn is running a headhunt to find employees for its assembly line.

The news apparently has been confirmed by a local newspaper which got in touch with Foxconn after reports broke out. So the news coming from two different sources seems to be somewhat of a confirmation, but we wouldn’t believe in it until the very last minute. The new iPhone is said to pack a reformed version of the A5X chipset packed with 1GB of RAM and some other unique feature that we haven’t heard of yet. It’s hard to maintain secrecy with Apple devices, and it seems like the surprise will be given away soon (again).

The new iPhone is said to break cover this fall with some neat performance upgrades. According to reports, Apple is currently running the revamped version of the A5X chip with an older iPhone’s casing to test its performance. The new iPhone is said to sport the fancy new chip which is slightly tailored/scaled down to fit the smartphone’s needs. All those extra pixels in the original A5X is unnecessary for a relatively smaller iPhone, so Apple decided to make some tweaks to the chip. Either way, it will be one hell of a smartphone when made available. Full details about the new iPhone are yet to be known, but this is enough to go with.

Also on board is 1GB of RAM which is another major upgrade from the 4S which had a mere 512MB of RAM. And while people are expecting a slightly overhauled display as well, it seems very unlikely. But we cannot rule out anything as of now. So we can expect an overhauled iPhone coming this fall along with the new iPod Touch as reported earlier. The iPhone prototype with the tweaked A5X chip for now is known by the codename N96 in Apple’s internal listing, that could easily change in the coming days though.

iPhone Dev Team has not released an official utility to jailbreak iOS 5, but MuscleNerd confirms on Twitter that you can jailbreak iOS 5 GM using Redsn0w 0.9.9B2 for Mac or Windows.

If you happen to own a jailbroken iPhone or an iPad, then this means you can safely upgrade to iOS 5 and jailbreak it! The catch is that, Redsn0w 0.9.9B2 for iOS 5 is a tethered jailbreak. It might sound disappointing for some because tethered jailbreaks requires you to connect your iOS device to your computer every time you run out of battery juice or reboot your device, but until Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5 is made available, this sounds like a viable option.

What’s New in iPhone 4S?

Apple has decided to not change anything in terms of physical design from the iPhone 4, by maintaining the same chassis and color combination. Inside the iPhone 4S there is a brand new Apple A5 dual core processor processor with 7x faster graphics, a better 8MP camera which can capture crisper images and shoot 1080p HD video without a hitch. All of this will be running on iOS 5. The new iPhone 4S will come in 16, 32 and 64GB of storage capacities priced at $199, $299 and $399 respectively on a two year contract. Sprint has joined the list of carriers that will launch the handset in the United States along with AT&T and Verizon.

A couple of software upgrades will also make way with the iPhone 4S. We’ve all heard a lot about iCloud over the past few months. But today Apple revealed a new voice guidance service called Siri which will guide users with every aspect of their device including sending texts, setting up reminders etc. Sadly though, Siri comes only with iPhone 4S and previous versions of the iPhone aren’t compatible with this cool new feature.

When is iPhone 4S Hitting Stores?

The handset will be sold in the United States starting from October 14 followed by 22 other countries on October 28. Apple plans to launch the handset to the rest of the world by the end of this year. In conclusion of the event, we were a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see the iPhone 5 being revealed, but we are sure Apple has a special date reserved for that too.

Wow, this certainly seems interesting. We have come across numerous leaks of the alleged iPhone 5 (or 4S), mostly in the form of leaked cases and covers. But now, just a few days prior to the official announcement, we have a leak of what seems like the final (running) prototype of the iPhone 5. We can’t say for sure if this is the real deal until Apple officially announces it this coming Tuesday, but this does seems like something we could be looking at next week. It seems like the video has been taken in a bar since we can hear clinking of glasses, so this could be an Apple employee with access to the device just taking a brief video in a bar (or it could be something else). What’s surprising is that the way the video concludes.

Looking at the device itself, we can make out that the display is bigger than what we have seen in the iPhone 4, perhaps a 3.7 incher. The screen stretches out more than what we have seen in the iPhone 4, so that could be the reason why the display looks considerably bigger. We love the slim look of the device, but sadly the demonstrator didn’t show off the back portion of the device so there’s no way to know if there are any changes at the back. The body is not entirely different than the iPhone 4, but it seems a bit taller than before. The left hand side of the device features the same volume control buttons as the iPhone 4, so that makes us feel that this could be the iPhone 4S that we’ve been hearing about since months. We can’t wait till Tuesday for Apple to finally reveal the new iPhone. Take this video with a pinch of salt till then. The new iPhone is supposed to roll out with a faster A5 processor, an 8MP camera, an upgraded RAM and a bigger display.

Well, thanks to the source we have confirmed that this piece of news is entirely fake with the video having many loopholes. Guess this was one of the ways to get the fans excited or to simply promote the game that the person is seen playing in the video.

Well, the iPhone 5 has been talked about for quite some time now. And we’ve heard more than just a couple of rumors so far. But it seems like we can’t have enough of the iPhone rumors, not until it’s launched. Well, newer rumors have surfaced on the web which involves a couple of people belonging to the production unit of the new iPhone in Taiwan. According to the sources, the new iPhone is “complicated and difficult to assemble”. What does that say now?

Well, it is also being said that the new iPhone will be a lot slimmer and lighter than its predecessor which was one of the thinnest phones at the time. It is also almost certain that the new iDevice will feature a 4 inch display making it bigger than its predecessor. This could mean that handling the phone would be much harder. No wonder the manufacturers find it hard to assemble the phone. The new iPhone will start shipping in Q3 or in other words a couple of months from now, though the launch date could be postponed indefinitely. The rumor mill also suggests that the iPhone 5 will have a stronger and sensitive 8MP camera instead of the 5MP one.

Apparently, the iPhone 4S will start production from August and should be ready to be sold within a couple of months. And as far as the leaked image goes, Apple has allegedly warned Global Direct Parts to take down the image which violates many of Apple’s manufacturer copyrights. Talks have been spreading over the web about iOS’ newest iteration. At the same time there are these owners of the iPhone 3G and the 3GS who are rather worried if Apple would roll out the new iOS update to their handsets. And now a well known source has tweeted that the iPhone 3Gs could not receive the iOS 5 update. Here’s what he exactly said – “Just one comment. Apple iPhone 3Gs wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. iPhone 4 will.” That leaves some questions unanswered, for all we know he could be referring to the plural of the iPhone 3G by stating it as 3Gs or he might just be talking about the 3GS.

Apple has not stopped the production of the iPhone 3GS and they’re being sold even today. This should give us a hint that Apple would not leave the 3GS owners in the dark. But we cannot rule out the possibility of Apple making it plainly available for the iPhone 4 and the new iPhone. As for this tweet, take it with a pinch of salt for now since it’s not confirmed news.

This is one of those easy to use applications with no complications whatsoever. It makes use of a very simple mechanism. It must be added though that this is not the first attempt by someone to make viewing of 3D content possible on iPhones or iPads. Toy giant Hasbro launched a 3D binoculars which was supposed to make you able to view 3D content on your iOS device. But it was simply not practical enough to carry it around with your iPhone or iPad and it worked only with some specific apps, so that was a disappointment. The i3D app however is an app which makes use of the mechanism inside the device and the front facing camera to give you an impression of 3D. And the best part is that this app does not require glasses to work properly. One of the researchers of the app stated -

“We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction. It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera.”

Browsing through the forums, we didn’t find any proper fix for this issue, but users have figured that hard-reseting the device sometimes rectifies the problem by itself. Some have even reported that reseting your network settings temporarily solves the problem. If nothing works, the only possible option is to forget your wireless connection and re-connect your device to the wireless network.

Only small percentage of iOS 4.3.3 users are facing this issue at the moment, and it doesn’t seem like a device specific bug. Apple hasn’t commented on this problem, but a fix must definitely be on its way. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Previously the Amazon Cloud Player was not playable on the default iOS browser Safari but users could still play tracks one at a time (even after the incompatibility warning their device received), and not so surprisingly there’s no dedicated app for the Amazon Cloud Player either. But now, iOS users can play songs from the Cloud Player without any hassles using the Safari browser. We’re not sure as to how this happened, but even after getting the warning, all you have to do is tap continue and just like that you can play tracks more easily than before with all the music controls being functional. The buffering is dealt with quickly and the player even works if you close the browser and put your device on standby. But sadly this looks like a U.S only update for now, hopefully Amazon expands this service to other countries as well. It seems like Amazon is doing something or the other to get the cloud player for iOS up and running. It will be interesting to see if they come up with a dedicated app soon. [Source]

We all know what jailbreaking an iPhone is. We also know the benefits a user gets after jailbreaking a device, but still only 8.5% of iPhone users do it. Some users are of the misconception that jailbreaking an iPhone would make them lose all the features they get with their stock handsets. But to be honest it isn’t as hard or risky as they think. It is true however that if not done in the right way, there is every possibility that your device could get bricked. But the functionalities it brings to the handset is something that a stock handset cannot provide.

Cydia as most jailbreakers might know is an app found in every jailbroken iPhone. The developer of Cydia, Jay Freeman, in a 5 minute video explains why jailbreaking is awesome and shows some of its cool features. The video however isn’t a complete rundown of all the things you could do with a jailbroken iPhone because it would take much longer than that if he were to do that. This basically gives you an idea of how good your device can be after you jailbreak it. Check out the video and see how its done, but if you already know how its done, it shouldn’t be much of a trouble to watch it again.

You might think it’s not that big a deal, but the real trouble starts when you try to attach regular iPhone 4 bumpers or cases to the device. If the cases/bumpers are very tight, they won’t fit into the device making it a huge disappointment. But there could be a valid explanation about this. An Apple representative stated – “It’s not as simple as making something white. There’s a lot more that goes into both the material science of it – how it holds up over time…but also in how it all works with the sensors”. The customers would’ve been okay with it if Apple notified them of the change in thickness beforehand. Hopefully there aren’t any such complications with the handset, and if any Apple should mention it to the users prior to their purchase.

After installing the app, launch Splashtop Remote and finish the setup process appropriately. Now you can configure the Remote Streamer application. You can now turn it on or off, configure network and security settings. When you finish doing all of this, go to your iPhone or iPod Touch and start using the downloaded app. After scanning through the list of computers that are Remote Streamer enabled, you may select your computer.

Enter the password you used when setting up the desktop app and now you can access your desktop with your iPhone or iPod Touch. This keyboard acts as a full PC keyboard, with more buttons, arrow keys and a windows button as well. You may tap on the same button on the top left corner to go back to use the device as a touchpad. You can change the sensitivity controls of the TouchPad according to your liking.

The Splashtop Remote TouchPad is an intuitive and easy to use application letting you remotely control your desktop through an iPhone or an iPod Touch from your office or at your friend’s place. But bear in mind that you need to be on a Wi-Fi network to access this feature.

This of course could mean that T-Mobile users can see the iPhone 4 coming to their network soon. But we think the timing of this could’ve been a tad better. Apple’s revenue numbers from the last 3 months i.e from December 26th 2010 to March 26th of last month show a total revenue of $24.6 billion. But you might think that the iPad, iPod Touch, the iPhone or other Apple devices had a part to play in it, which is very obvious. But which device do you think was responsible for most of Apple’s 3 month revenue?

Well, according to Apple’s report, over  50% of the revenue came from the iPhone which means that half of Apple’s revenue is coming from the iPhone range. Apple has sold around 18.65 million iPhones in the last quarter alone which cashes in $12.3 billion. But when we say iPhone it also includes related products like iPhone accessories, carrier agreements etc. But to even things out this number does not include revenue from the iTunes app store, that revenue is separately categorised as iTunes revenue.

The iPhone was responsible for 33% of Apple’s revenue during Q4 last year and in Q1 of this year it was responsible for about 39% of the company’s revenue and now the number has reached 50%. This is a clear indication that the percentage of the sales made by iPhone will increase in the coming days. And with the reported launch of the successor to the iPhone, things look very good for the Cupertino based giant. [Source]

Apple’s Tim Cook today when giving out Apple’s Q2 results, went on to say that Apple is Samsung’s largest customer and both companies have a brief idea about the strong relationship that they have. This comes after Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung alleging trademark infringement. Tim also said that they tried to settle the issue out of court but were obliged to take this step after the mobile division of Samsung “crossed the line”. Apple alleges that Samsung has copied some key design elements from the iPad and the iPhone accordingly. But Cook thinks Samsung and Apple will maintain a healthy relationship despite the ongoing legal tussle between the two giants. According to researchers, Apple iPhones and 3G enabled iPads are keeping track and recording all of their owners movements. As per security experts Pete Warden and Alasdair Allan, the data recorded is kept in an unencrypted and a hidden file. The Guardian was the first to report about this.

Apparently, if provided with the right software it is possible to track exactly where the person has been so far more like a tracker of some sort. There is no valid prove or disprove this though. Apple hasn’t commented yet on this alleged revelation. Things get worse since there’s no indication of any sort on the iPhones on the iPads about this. But Apple’s terms of use gives us a slight hint of this – “We may collect information such as occupation, language, zip code, area code, unique device identifier, location, and the time zone where an Apple product is used so that we can better understand customer behaviour and improve our products, services, and advertising”.

The experts however writing on a tech website claimed that this was “clearly intentional” from Apple. They also revealed that the ability to track a user’s movements came with the iOS 4 update which was available from June 2010. This could be a major setback to Apple if proved to be right, however if it isn’t the experts who reported this could be in a world of trouble. I think Apple tracks the user’s movements to a certain extent but it isn’t something that is illegal. So maybe next time reading the terms of use shouldn’t be much of a bother.

Apple basically will have an event in September where all the magic is supposed to happen. Hon Hai Precision Industry which handles the manufacturing of Foxconn, will start receiving shipments of camera modules, chassis and screens for the new iPhone probably in July or August.
