Of the 16 processors launched yesterday, five constitutes for mobile chips, four for server chips and the remaining seven processors include desktop chips. The new chips render lower power consumption along with premium performance.

The announcement also includes Intel’s first 45nm mobile chips for its Centrino mobile platform. A spokesperson from the company stated that these new chips are 25% smaller than the earlier release, making them easier to embed into various mobile devices. There are speculations that Apple will launch a new portable computing device based on these 45nm mobile processors sometime next week.

However, the company remains tightlipped on the actual street date for its quad-core offerings.
