Meebo, the multi-platform IM client has come up with a new update to the iOS version with some trendy new features. Apart from the basic instant messaging feature, this app has now been added with initial Twitter support and lets the users check-in to the sites they’re browsing. There’s also a live news feed which shows updates from your Twitter, Meebo and Facebook pages respectively. 

The folks at Meebo have come up with something cool here. And according to the comments from the official press release, many such updates are to follow in future. Meebo’s 1.9 update for iOS is a must have, try it out today. You may download it here.

Skype mentioned that they may use non-personally identifiable demographic data, to maintain relevance in advertisements. But if the users wish not to share their non-personally identifiable demographic info, they may change the settings.

Skype provides a great user experience, like it has been since quite some time. And this tiny little change shouldn’t affect users as long as it doesn’t disrupt conversations or calls.

Fring for Android has been up since quite some time now. Fring is one of those rare apps which not only gives you the basic IM features but also lets you make video calls on your Android device, given the fact that your handset has a front facing camera. But in case you own a Android 2.3 device, like the Nexus S, you would’ve noticed that Fring is not compatible with the OS.

Well, the new Fring update solves just that, making Fring compatible with Gingerbread handsets. So now, Nexus S owners can experience video calling features with their new Fring app. The new update also brings forth some enhancements in terms of audio clarity and a new notifications system.

I think the main reason why Google Talk was so successful was because of its open chat protocol. It was so easy to use, and it was available everywhere. Now, Facebook is trying to do the same. I think it’s a step in the right direction for Facebook.

I think Facebook has all the assets to be the best social networking site with status updates, photo/video uploads, sharing news and links, and now, chat! If rumors are to be believed, Facebook is working on a full-fledged webmail product codenamed Project Titan.
