And now a report from <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/12/us-mobileusa-att-breakupfee-idUSTRE74B5H220110512">Reuters</a> states that if this merger fails or doesn&#8217;t take place, AT&amp;T could lose about $6 billion in cash and assets. Earlier reports however suggested that AT&amp;T admitted to losing $3 billion as payout to T-Mobile if the merger failed. But new sources have mentioned that AT&amp;T will be liable to pay $2 billion for spectrum allotment and also sign a roaming agreement worth $1 billion(if the merger is not approved).</p><p>We wonder as to why AT&amp;T is offering such a massive amount for the cancellation alone. This could be AT&amp;T&#8217;s confidence in the deal showing here and that has been the general opinion to be honest. Many expect this deal to be completed, so it couldn&#8217;t have been much of a problem for AT&amp;T to agree to pay so much(if the deal was called off). Remember that the proposed merger is worth $39 billion so the total cancellation fee which includes the roaming and spectrum agreement makes up for about 15.4% of the deal which is a big amount of money. So at the end of the day, T-Mobile will be benefited from this deal irrespective of the outcome.</p><p>Stories you may like:<ol><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/04/24/t-mobile-u-s-to-launch-the-iphone-4/' rel='bookmark' title='T-Mobile U.S to Launch the iPhone 4?'>T-Mobile U.S to Launch the iPhone 4?</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2008/02/01/microsoft-bids-to-buy-yahoo-for-446-billion/' rel='bookmark' title='Microsoft Bids to Buy Yahoo! for $44.6 Billion'>Microsoft Bids to Buy Yahoo! for $44.6 Billion</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/05/10/microsoft-in-talks-to-acquire-skype/' rel='bookmark' title='Microsoft in Talks To Acquire Skype'>Microsoft in Talks To Acquire Skype</a></li></ol></p><p>This article, <a href="http://tech-buzz.net/2011/05/13/att-is-liable-to-pay-6-billion-to-t-mobile-if-the-merger-is-called-off/">AT&#038;T is Liable to Pay $6 Billion to T-Mobile If the Merger is Called Off</a>, was published at <a href="http://tech-buzz.net">TechBuzz</a>. Also buyers of this device will receive a $25 credit for the Samsung Media Hub, which is a great addition.</p><p>The Infuse 4G sports a huge 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, an 8 MP camera on the back capable of 720p video capture with a 1.3 MP front facing camera, a snappy 1.2 GHz processor and will run on Android 2.2 Froyo. Connectivity wise the Infuse 4G will be the first device to feature support for HSPA+ category 14 at 21 Mbps and will also feature HSUPA category 6 when its launch. And according to Samsung, the Infuse 4G will have two antennas to boost signal strength and increase wireless performance.</p><p>[<a href="http://www.att.com/">AT&amp;T</a>]</p><p>Stories you may like:<ol><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-launches-in-south-korea-will-be-followed-by-other-global-markets/' rel='bookmark' title='Samsung Galaxy S II Launches in South Korea, Will be Followed By Other Global Markets'>Samsung Galaxy S II Launches in South Korea, Will be Followed By Other Global Markets</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/01/26/samsung-to-launch-4-new-android-smartphones-in-asian-markets/' rel='bookmark' title='Samsung to launch 4 new Android smartphones for Asian markets'>Samsung to launch 4 new Android smartphones for Asian markets</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/02/03/samsungs-latest-entrant-in-the-galaxy-series-the-samsung-galaxy-sl-gt-i9003/' rel='bookmark' title='Samsung&rsquo;s latest entrant in the Galaxy series : The Samsung Galaxy SL GT &#8211; I9003'>Samsung&rsquo;s latest entrant in the Galaxy series : The Samsung Galaxy SL GT &#8211; I9003</a></li></ol></p><p>This article, <a href="http://tech-buzz.net/2011/05/06/samsung-announces-the-infuse-4g-on-at-launching-may-15th/">Samsung Announces the Infuse 4G on AT&#038;T; Launching May 15th</a>, was published at <a href="http://tech-buzz.net">TechBuzz</a>. Both the carriers have now blocked tethering applications found in the Android Market. Apps like PDANet lets you use your device as an internet connection so that you can connect it to laptops and PCs. While some applications found in the Android Market require a rooted device, some of them don&#8217;t necessarily require a rooted device. But now you won&#8217;t be able to find applications like these in the Android Market.</p><p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5443" title="AT&amp;T Verizon Block Tethering Apps" src="http://tech-buzz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/ATT-Verizon-Block-Tethering-Apps.jpg" alt="AT&amp;T Verizon Block Tethering Apps" width="467" height="311" /></p><p>This has been a major limitation with buying a cellphone on contract, you literally have to play by their rules. Users can still sideload .apks to their device though, which is something that both AT&amp;T and Verizon cannot stop you from doing as of now. The <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/04/verizon-att-block-wireless-tethering-apps/">banning of tethering applications</a> however is a rather worrying issue, considering the fact that Android is an open source platform. But why would major carriers like these let you use it for free when they can charge you a fortune to use the same service on their network?</p><p>Stories you may like:<ol><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/04/25/amazon-to-provide-a-25-reward-to-the-ones-buying-a-verizon-powered-android-smartphone/' rel='bookmark' title='Amazon to Provide a $25 Reward to the Ones Buying a Verizon Powered Android Smartphone'>Amazon to Provide a $25 Reward to the Ones Buying a Verizon Powered Android Smartphone</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/04/14/sony-ericsson-gets-its-own-stream-in-the-android-market/' rel='bookmark' title='Sony Ericsson Gets Its Own Stream in the Android Market'>Sony Ericsson Gets Its Own Stream in the Android Market</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/01/20/android-market-place-hits-225000-mark/' rel='bookmark' title='Android market Place hits 225,000 mark'>Android market Place hits 225,000 mark</a></li></ol></p><p>This article, <a href="http://tech-buzz.net/2011/05/01/att-and-verizon-blocking-tethering-apps-from-the-android-market/">AT&#038;T and Verizon Blocking Tethering Apps From the Android Market</a>, was published at <a href="http://tech-buzz.net">TechBuzz</a>. But how cool would it be if T-Mobile US got the iPhone 4 as well? Well, that seems likely now with a prototype white iPhone 4 being caught running on T-Mobile US&#8217; AWS frequencies. Also to be noted is the model number of the device. Well, this particular device has a model number of N94, as compared to AT&amp;T&#8217;s N90 and Verizon&#8217;s N92. The device is seen running a test version of iOS with apps like Apple Employee Directory and the proximity sensor seen on this device is a bit different than the one expected on the white iPhone 4 launching at the end of this month.</p><p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5156" title="iPhone 4 T-Mobile " src="http://tech-buzz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/iPhone-4-T-Mobile-1.jpg" alt="iPhone 4 T-Mobile" width="229" height="306" /> <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5155" title="iPhone 4 T-Mobile (1)" src="http://tech-buzz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/iPhone-4-T-Mobile.png" alt="iPhone 4 T-Mobile (1)" width="229" height="306" /></p><p>This of course could mean that T-Mobile users can see the iPhone 4 coming to their network soon. But we think the timing of this could&#8217;ve been a tad better. Because by the time the iPhone 4 would reach T-Mo users, the latest iPhone would already be in the market. So that could make this seem a bit dull. But that&#8217;s for them to decide. It is not clear yet whether the tests happened before the merger, well if that&#8217;s the case users will have to wait till the merger is completed.  [<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.bgr.com/2011/04/23/exclusive-apple-testing-iphone-4-for-t-mobile-usa/">Source</a>]</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Stories you may like:<ol><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2008/02/06/apple-doubles-storage-on-iphone-and-ipod-touch/' rel='bookmark' title='Apple Doubles Storage on iPhone and iPod Touch'>Apple Doubles Storage on iPhone and iPod Touch</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/04/21/iphone-responsible-for-50-of-apples-revenue/' rel='bookmark' title='iPhone Responsible for 50&#037; of Apple&#8217;s Revenue'>iPhone Responsible for 50&#37; of Apple&#8217;s Revenue</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2008/06/11/iphone-unlocking-to-be-exterminated/' rel='bookmark' title='iPhone Unlocking to be Exterminated?'>iPhone Unlocking to be Exterminated?</a></li></ol></p><p>This article, <a href="http://tech-buzz.net/2011/04/24/t-mobile-u-s-to-launch-the-iphone-4/">T-Mobile U.S to Launch the iPhone 4?</a>, was published at <a href="http://tech-buzz.net">TechBuzz</a>. AT&amp;T added 2.8 million customers after which they regained the top spot with 95.5 million customers, compared to Verizon’s 94.1 million customers. Verizon came on top 2 years ago after acquiring Alltel. Even though AT&amp;T had the exclusivity to sell the iPhone, they had not been able to come close to Verizon’s number. It could only be a matter of time before Verizon regains the top spot again.</p><p>via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/att-grabs-1-spot-from-verizon-as-nation%E2%80%99s-largest-carrier-27128902/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed:+slashgear+(SlashGear)">Slashgear</a></p><p>Stories you may like:<ol><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2011/01/19/apple-likely-to-touch-the-100-million-iphone-sales-mark-this-year/' rel='bookmark' title='Apple likely to sell the 100 millionth iPhone this year'>Apple likely to sell the 100 millionth iPhone this year</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2008/08/06/airtel-to-launch-iphone-3g-on-august-22/' rel='bookmark' title='Airtel to Launch iPhone 3G on August 22'>Airtel to Launch iPhone 3G on August 22</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2006/12/03/million-dollar-homepage-comes-back-as-pixelotto/' rel='bookmark' title='Million Dollar Homepage Comes Back as Pixelotto'>Million Dollar Homepage Comes Back as Pixelotto</a></li></ol></p><p>This article, <a href="http://tech-buzz.net/2011/01/28/att-on-top-as-u-s-number-one-carrier/">AT&#038;T on top as U.S’ number one carrier</a>, was published at <a href="http://tech-buzz.net">TechBuzz</a>. It’s not all that destructive, doesn’t express negatives about the iPhone, but just targets AT&amp;T’s softness – lack of 3G coverage. That being said, the red heat-map of Verizon’s coverage shown in the commercial looks over exaggerated. Doesn’t look 5X, but looks more like 10x more coverage, which again would be misleading in AT&amp;T’s point of view. What do you think?</p><p>Stories you may like:<ol><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2009/10/18/verizons-droid-does-anti-iphone-advertisement/' rel='bookmark' title='Verizon&rsquo;s &ldquo;Droid Does&rdquo; Anti-iPhone Advertisement'>Verizon&rsquo;s &ldquo;Droid Does&rdquo; Anti-iPhone Advertisement</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2007/01/13/iphone-video-demonstration/' rel='bookmark' title='iPhone: Video Demonstration'>iPhone: Video Demonstration</a></li><li><a href='http://tech-buzz.net/2007/03/05/scrubit-the-anti-porn-dns/' rel='bookmark' title='ScrubIT &ndash; The Anti-Porn DNS'>ScrubIT &ndash; The Anti-Porn DNS</a></li></ol></p><p>This article, <a href="http://tech-buzz.net/2009/11/09/verizons-new-wave-of-anti-att-advertisements/">Verizon&rsquo;s New Wave of Anti AT&amp;T Advertisements</a>, was published at <a href="http://tech-buzz.net">TechBuzz</a>.
