There were a few issues with the tablet itself which eventually led to people returning tablets back to the manufacturer. And now a retailer, woot.com has apparently sold a few units of the tablet which weren’t properly refurbished. The new buyers of the refurbished tablets found data on the tablet. This is clearly an error by Motorola, failing to perform a factory reset of the devices before putting them up for resale as refurbished devices. Information from old users like passwords, images etc were all found on these tablets.

Needless to say, Motorola has been quick to respond to the issue and has given out a press release. It is reported that the affected tablets belonged to the customers who returned the tablet between March and October 2011. On the brighter side, only 100 of the 6,200 devices returned during the period are said to be affected. Well, this is a rookie mistake from a company like Motorola and you might want to check with the company if you returned the tablet during the specified time frame. Motorola is offering 2 years of free Experian ProtectMyID for customers who have been affected by this. Instances like these could be avoided if users reset their device or back up the data before sending it over to the company.

Contact Motorola by heading over to the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi Return Submission page or simply contact Motorola via phone (1800-734-5870).

[Source]

Stories you may like:

T-Mobile U.S Selling Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tabs for $99.99

HTC to roll out 3 new tablets

Motorola XOOM on Verizon starting from $600

This article, Retailer Selling Refurbished XOOM Tablets With Old User Data, was published at TechBuzz. After rolling out Honeycomb 3.0 update specially for tablet PC not long before, Google has again stunned the world with its latest update called Android Icecream Sandwhich 4.0 which will be universal and will work on Mobile phones and tablets both. After much anticipation Google has announced the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Android tablets and Smartphone. However this amazing update would be first available in Hongkong and China only but it is expected to be there in other parts of the world soon. The first Smartphone to run Android 4.0 with IceCream Sandwich update is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus made by Samsung phones, which will be obtainable by next month.

Let’s have a look at some of the most important and latest features of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which makes it even more delectable.

Advanced User Interface – ICS has made android more simplified with highly advanced user interface. Powered by Android, and specs that are comparable with Research and Motion’s Blackberry Playbook for just $199! It might have the potential to be a value for money tablet that everyone would want.

Kindle Fire Specifications:

1GHz TI OMAP dual-core CPU

512 MB of RAM

8GB of internal flash storage

7 inch IPS Gorilla Glass scratch resistive display

Amazon AppStore

Free Access to Amazon Cloud Storage

Wilson Rothman managed to get a shot of Kindle Fire alongside Blackberry Playbook, and I must admit, it looks a bit sleeker than the Playbook. The user interface looks nothing like Android, thanks to all the custom skinning done by Amazon. Would it have a shot at Apple’s iPad 2? Along with 18 million pieces of content in the appstore (which includes games, apps, movies, TV shows and music), Amazon is pitching its new tablet with what they call “Amazon Silk Browser”

What is Amazon Silk?

Amazon Silk is a cloud-accelerated browser that splits the computational power required to render each web page between the device and Amazon’s massive infrastructure of computer. It works more or less like Opera Turbo and speeds up mobile browsing experience by compressing heavy components and makes dynamic assessments to either execute certain elements of the page remotely or run locally on the device.

Kindle Fire Cons?

Lack of 3G, and camera is a major letdown. Looks like Amazon’s AppStore will completely replace Android Market, which means you’ll be missing out on apps that haven’t partnered with Amazon.

Will it hurt iPad’s Market Share?

The device doesn’t seem to be as polished iOS-powered iPad, but for those who cannot justify a $500 iPad, Fire makes perfect sense. Only time will tell, if Fire will generate enough buzz to erode sales away from iPad! Do you think Amazon’s price-point will convince average consumers to consider Kindle Fire? Previous reports claimed that Samsung’s Nexus Prime will succeed the Nexus S, but now a different rumor has surfaced which suggests that HTC could be making the new Nexus handset. Well that’s not the interesting part though. According to a Facebook page, the next Nexus device will feature a Google+ button which will enable Google’s social networking functionalities on the device instantly. The owner of the page claims that this news comes to him from an official Google employee. But considering what has been said in the past, it is quite hard to believe this story.

People have not been major fans of HTC’s Nexus One, and as a result Samsung was handed the responsibility of making its successor. And I must say they’ve done a pretty good job. Even LG for that matter is said to be in the running to make the Android 4.0 running Nexus Prime. But for some reason, Samsung seems a much better choice. With its Exynos chipset ruling the market currently, it could only make more sense for Google to go with Samsung for the next Nexus handset.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Samsung to fix the Nexus S sms bug in the coming days

White Nexus S coming to Vodafone UK

Nexus S hasn’t recovered from its nasty ‘reboot’ bug yet

This article, The New Nexus Handset Could Feature a Google+ Button, was published at TechBuzz. That is because Google uses some of the IP rights which are originally patented by Microsoft. So as a result every manufacturer has to pay a certain amount of money to MS for every Android smartphone sold. This is because of the open source nature of the platform; Google clearly has washed its hands off this. Some companies like HTC pay $5 per Android smartphone sold, while others pay slightly more. But Microsoft seems to have raised the stakes considerably now for the South Korean electronics giant Samsung.

If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft is demanding a whopping $15 per Android smartphone sold by Samsung. This apparently is Microsoft’s way of blackmailing Samsung so that they start paying more attention to WP7. HTC has a few WP7 devices under its kitty, hence the concession. It’s hard to believe that a company like MS would resort to something like this. Samsung is said to be negotiating for something under $10 per smartphone. Both the companies have remained mum as of now regarding the matter, so there’s no way of knowing what they’re thinking. With $15 per smartphone, Microsoft could make a lot more than what it makes with WP7. If we add up the sales numbers of the original Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II, Microsoft could make about $195 million. And the sales numbers of the devices are much higher since they are still being sold so it could come down to a lot more than $195 million. You do the math.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Samsung to launch 4 new Android smartphones for Asian markets

Samsung’s latest entrant in the Galaxy series : The Samsung Galaxy SL GT – I9003

Samsung Galaxy Ace: Official specs available

This article, Microsoft Demanding $15 Per Android Handset From Samsung, was published at TechBuzz. This tablet will be the first one to run Honeycomb 3.2 which quite frankly is new and unheard of. For a while we started to think if Huawei made an error with the PR like HTC did with the Salsa and ChaCha during the MWC by quoting that the devices would be running on Android 2.4, which was later clarified to be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. But Huawei here has made it clear that this is no error on their part and have gone on to say that Android 3.2 will be a version of Honeycomb specifically optimized for 7 inch tablets. Cool right? Maybe that explains the reason behind most Honeycomb tablets being 10 inchers (though tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and ViewSonic ViewPad 7x run on Android 3.0 or 3.1). ViewSonic broke the jinx recently by announcing the 7 incher ViewPad 7x, which is yet to be launched. Interestingly enough, the MediaPad will not come in a Wi-Fi only version, so you have only one variant of the tablet to choose from unlike the HTC Flyer and others.

Getting back to the topic, the Huawei MediaPad is packed with a decent set of config. the MediaPad will have an IPS LCD display with a reolution of ??1280 x 800 pixels, plus a Qualcomm 1.2 GHz dual core processor is on board which is new as well since most Honeycomb tablets run on NVIDIA Tegra 2. Other specs include a 5MP camera on the back capable of recording 720p HD videos and a 1.3MP front facing camera, 8 GB of internal memory which can be expanded by adding microSD cards of up to 32 GB. The battery life is said to be decent enough at 6 hours. Connectivity wise the MediaPad will feature HSPA+ connectivity with speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an HDMI port. The tablet will come pre loaded with applications like Lets Golf, Documents To Go, Facebook and Twitter. The price of the tablet however remains a mystery, but it is expected of Huawei to price it moderately.

Stories you may like:

Lenovo Could Launch a 7-inch Honeycomb Tablet by Q4

ViewSonic To Launch ViewPad 7x and ViewPad 10Pro

Honeycomb would be a tablet only OS for the time being

This article, Huawei Shows Off A 7 Inch Honeycomb Tablet With Android 3.2, was published at TechBuzz. The HTC Salsa was launched through an online retailer, and now HTCs latest flagship, the Sensation has made its way to India. According to online retailer Letsbuy, the Sensation will be shipped at about 5-8 days and will cost Rs 30,699 ($686). It is interesting to note that the Sensation has been priced marginally lesser than the Samsung Galaxy S II (in India), maybe it’s a strategy by HTC.

Both the Galaxy S II and the Sensation are relatively similar phones, but the Galaxy S II has beaten the Sensation in terms of benchmarks. But mere benchmarks cannot prove a winner, so from that aspect it still remains undecided. But the overall performance of the Galaxy S II has been generally positive.

The Sensation runs on a dual core third generation Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with each cores running at 1.2 GHz each. The phone also has an 8MP camera which is capable of recording 1080p Full HD video at 30fps. And of course, Android 2.3 Gingerbread is on board, with the latest iteration of HTC Sense UI, Sense 3.0.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Vodafone UK Now Taking Pre Orders for the HTC Sensation

HTC Launches the Sensation with Sense 3.0

Target to Sell HTC Sensation 4G for $199.99

This article, HTC Sensation Now Available In India Via Online Retailer, was published at TechBuzz. The Salsa is a full touchscreen phone whereas the ChaCha is a handset with a full QWERTY keyboard. There wasn’t much info available about the launch of the two handsets, and now it seems like one of them is India bound. Well, the HTC Salsa has been listed on Indian retailer Flipkart’s website, and will be sold for Rs. 20,449 ($456). It seems like India is the first place to be getting this phone.

The Salsa has a HTC specific, unibody design which gives it that premium look. Specs wise, it features a 3.2-inch display, a 5MP camera, an 800 MHz processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. We think it’s a tad overpriced, considering that it has nothing special to flaunt besides the Facebook button below, which will give you quick access to the social networking site.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

HTC ChaCha and Salsa to Make Its Way to the UK on June 26 via Amazon

Google India Launches 5GOOG Text Messaging Service

Blogspot Blogs Banned in India and Pakistan

This article, HTC Salsa Launches In India, was published at TechBuzz. They recently launched a limited period offer where new smartphones were sold at whopping discounts. This offer is something similar, being a limited period offer valid till 15th of June. So you might want to hurry up and grab this beauty. The HTC Thunderbolt features a 4.3 inch display, an 8MP camera on the back, a 1 GHz single core CPU, Android 2.2 Froyo. So there’s absolutely no compromise here with the hardware of the device.

Stories you may like:

Amazon Offering Great Discount On Latest Handsets For New Customers

Amazon to Provide a $25 Reward to the Ones Buying a Verizon Powered Android Smartphone

Amazon Now Selling the HTC Inspire 4G for $29.99 On Contract

This article, HTC Thunderbolt Now Being Sold For $100 on Amazon, was published at TechBuzz. Well, the problem basically was that when the phone was held in the left hand, a significant decrease in the phone’s network signals were spotted. Well, that was because Apple planted the antennas on the casing of the phone, so when held at an angle the phone would receive little or no signal at all. But Apple was very quick to respond to the issue and they provided customers with bumpers so as to avoid human contact with the casing. And now, it seems like the HTC Sensation has a slightly similar issue. When held at a similar angle, the device loses its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals considerably. There could be an explanation to that too.

Well, the HTC has wrapped the Sensation with a metal battery cover which has plastic coverings on it which in fact work as antennas for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, hence the signal drops when held at the particular region of the phone. It would be too far fetched to say that every Sensation 4G would be pl that problem. We will have a better idea of the problem once it is launched in the market. The Sensation 4G is to make way to T-Mobile’s shelves on the 15th of June.

Stories you may like:

Vodafone UK Now Taking Pre Orders for the HTC Sensation

T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G to Launch on June 8

Target to Sell HTC Sensation 4G for $199.99

This article, HTC Sensation Vulnerable to The Death Grip?, was published at TechBuzz. The Swordfish as it is alternatively known, offers a rich internet experience with “Triple Dual Power” as Motorola rightly says with a dual core processor, dual mode and dual standby. But this phone is an exclusive for the Chinese market, so that’s a disappointment.

The phone has a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with each cores running at 1.2 GHz each. And to add to the list, an 8MP rear camera with a 3 MP front facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, an HDMI port to plug it into an HD TV, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a relatively bigger 1880 mAh battery and a CDMA EV-DO/GSM feature which means that it can hold a CDMA and a GSM connection. The phone will cost somewhere close to the Chinese alternative of $830. It’s rather sad that this phone is an exclusive to China, but dual mode and dual standby handsets are not new to China, so no doubt this phone is made with China in mind. The tablet was first shown off at the CES convention and later it was spotted in a bunch of leaked flyers by Toshiba. When it was first showed off, the Toshiba Thrive ran on Android 2.2 Froyo, but now it seems like the tab will launch with Android 3.1 Honeycomb instead. And this isn’t just any other tablet, mind you. It has a lot of features which makes it stand out. Firstly, it is not as light weight or slim as other tablets, say for example the iPad 2 or the Galaxy Tab 10.1. And that’s mainly because the phone comes with swappable back panels with different colors. And the back is made of something that Toshiba calls “Easy Grip Rubberized Finish”. The battery would be swappable as well, which makes it the first ever Android tablet to have that feature.

The Toshiba Thrive is a 10.1 inch tablet running on Android 3.1 Honeycomb. It also features a 5MP camera on the back with a 2MP front facing camera for video calls and a 1 GHz dual core Tegra 2 processor. What makes it special though is its rather strange collection of connectivity ports. It has a miniUSB port, an HDMI port, a dock connector and a USB 2.0 port, the latter is rarely seen on Honeycomb tablets, but Android 3.1 Honeycomb brings support for USB 2.0 ports so we wouldn’t be surprised if we see it in new tablets. Video viewing is a joy with the Toshiba Tablet with the company borrowing the image enhancement technology from its range of flat screen televisions.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Toshiba shows its 10” tablet again, with a removable battery and changeable back panels

The Toshiba Tablet “Coming Soon” on Best Buy

The Toshiba Tablet Gets Priced

This article, Toshiba Thrive to Launch In July: Starting From $429, was published at TechBuzz. And now, it seems like we have something substantial at last. According to a leaked slider from RadioShack, the HTC EVO 3D will be launching on the 24th of June. This completely disproves previous reports which suggested that the EVO 3D is to be launched on June 4. RadioShack is already taking pre orders for the EVO 3D, so all those interested in buying the device shouldn’t waste more time. Sadly though, there is no mention of the device’s price, but it has been speculated previously that it could be priced at $199.99 on contract, no surprise there. Also possible is the fact that if you trade in your EVO 4G or EVO Shift, you could get a $100 discount and get the device for $99.99 instead.

The leaked flyer also tells us that the device is to come pre loaded with the movie Green Hornet 3D which is a bonus. The phone comes packed with a 4.3 inch 3D S-LCD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, dual 5MP cameras on the back capable of recording 720p 3D video and 1080p 2D video and a 1.3MP front facing camera, a 1.2 GHz dual core Qualcomm processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.0.

Stories you may like:

HTC Flyer specs leaked

HTC Flyer Available for Pre-Order on the 25th of April via Best Buy

Get the HTC Flyer From Best Buy Today

This article, Leaked RadioShack Flyer Suggests That the EVO 3D Is To Be Launched On June 24, was published at TechBuzz. But now, ViewSonic a brand rarely heard of in the tablet scene, will be launching a 7 inch Honeycomb tablet, the first of its kind. ViewSonic showed off the ViewPad 7x at Computex and took us all by surprise. The company will also be launching a Windows tablet called ViewPad 10Pro which is a relatively bigger tablet.

The ViewPad 7x is more compact than its contemporaries, but is not too different hardware wise. It boasts a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU, cameras on the front and back respectively, plus the device has faster HSPA+ radios which will have absolutely no issues with the connectivity. The light weight form factor of the ViewPad 7x is the highlight of the device.

The ViewPad 10Pro however is a Windows 7 running tablet and is a successor to the ViewPad 10. This device apparently can dual boot Windows and Android 2.2 Froyo. But it isn’t confirmed by the company yet, so it would be too early to comment on it. This 10 inch tablet comes with the 1.5 GHz Intel Oak Trail Z670 processor which promises snappy feedback and responsiveness. The device is also capable of playing 1080p Full HD video for up to 4.5 hours. There is support for USB drives and external microSD cards of up to 32 GB. Not much info is available on the price of the device yet.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Lenovo Could Launch a 7-inch Honeycomb Tablet by Q4

Android 2.4 to launch in April ?

Sony to Launch a Honeycomb Tablet in the US Within Summer

This article, ViewSonic To Launch ViewPad 7x and ViewPad 10Pro, was published at TechBuzz. And now an image has surfaced which apparently is the test device of the Ice Cream Sandwich. Well, the device is turned off so very little could be said about its authenticity. We don’t see the 4 typical Android buttons at the bottom of the screen and that could be because the display is turned off or these buttons could be built into the software like we saw on Honeycomb tablets.

This particular handset was said to be running on HSPA+ and Sprint’s CDMA network. We would be hearing more about the next phone by Google which will succeed the Nexus S in some time. The new Nexus handset is said to be made by either HTC or LG. The hopes are obviously high with the next iteration of Android, and this to be honest doesn’t quite look like an authentic test device, but we could be wrong.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Motorola XOOM Users Might Receive an OTA Update of Android 3.1

Google Announces Android 3.1 Ice Cream Sandwich and Its New Features

Android’s next update Ice Cream may roll out this summer

This article, Ice Cream Sandwich Test Device Gets Pictured [Rumor], was published at TechBuzz. But if rumors were to be believed, the G2x had some issues with the hardware. And as a result it was reported that the handset had been removed from sale. Some users have complained about its leakage of display light, issues with control and also the random re-boot bug. And to add to T-Mobile’s woes the G2x has now been replaced by the Sidekick 4G. This particular sale will begin from tonight (midnight) Eastern Daylight Time.

This has raised suspicion among users about the G2x. But according to T-Mobile, the G2x has fallen prey to heavy demand from the customers. And as a result was sold out. T-Mobile sent out a tweet regarding the issue – “The T-Mobile G2x has been very popular and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working to address.” So this clearly looks like a case of high demand, or could T-Mobile be covering up the G2x’s back? We’ll know very soon. And if any customers find flaws in their G2x, it is advised that they head back over to the retailer they bought it from.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

Top 50 Mobile Games of 2006

T-Mobile Blocks Google Talk Video Chat Over 3G

Vodafone UK Now Taking Pre Orders for the HTC Sensation

This article, T-Mobile G2x Out Of Shelves Due To Shortage, was published at TechBuzz. The tablet is already available for pre order on the retailer’s website but was said to be available for purchase from Sunday onwards i.e tomorrow. But now a leaked employee memo states that the device could be available for purchase from today given that the outlets have it in stock with them. This leaked memo that we’re talking about states that the ‘hard street date’ has been relaxed. This when put in simpler terms means that retailers now have full authority to sell the device if they have it in stock with them.

Seems like Best Buy doesn’t want to waste any time with the launch of HTC’s first ever tablet. Priced at $499 (without the Magic Pen, which will cost $80 more), the Flyer promises some thrills with its uncomplicated and portable layout with Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on top of HTC Sense UI optimized for tablets. The 1.5 GHz single core Qualcomm CPU adds up to the feature list.

[Source]

Stories you may like:

HTC Flyer Available for Pre-Order on the 25th of April via Best Buy

HTC Flyer Priced $499.99 on Best Buy; Launching On May 22

HTC Flyer specs leaked

This article, Get the HTC Flyer From Best Buy Today, was published at TechBuzz. The updated app was available on iPhone and for Android devices via the Amazon App Store, but sadly users who downloaded the game from the Android Market had no luck. But that will change soon with Rovio updating the Android Market app tomorrow by adding new Beach Volley Levels. Rovio will also be adding new levels to the game in May, July October and November. This particular level will come with 30 episodes where the birds will be seen slinging towards monkeys on Brazilian beaches.

Angry Birds Rio was said to be exclusive to the Amazon AppStore, but that wasn’t the case. Though Amazon getting the app a week prior to the Android Market release is something Google would want to look into. There’s no doubt however that Rovio is in very good terms with Amazon. But Paper War for 2 Players by SillyCube is an innovative two player game for Android which promises some fun times with your friends or family.

Well, to speak about the game itself, two players are required so as to play this game correctly. Which means that you can challenge your colleagues or friends in the office or at your school to a one on one competition. There are three playable levels of Paper War.

Anti aircraft is a level where a user has to shoot his opponent’s plane and vice versa. If he accidentally shoots his plane, points are awarded to his opponent and so on. This level is quite fun and the users might get confused as to which plane to hit and which not to, but that’s the whole point of the game here. So thumbs up for that. The first player to reach 30 points is the winner.

Next on the list is the Plane Smasher level. This for me is the best level of the game with the player having to tap on his opponent’s plane and vice versa. And here too if you tap on your planes instead of the opponent’s, points will be credited to the their score. And again, as the anti aircraft level, the first person to reach 30 points is the winner.

And lastly Cannon Battle which is fun too with the players having to shoot missiles at each other. When a missile hits the opponent’s cannon, 5 or 3 points are deducted from that player depending on where it hits. The game starts with both players having 30 points each. The first player to reach the score of zero makes the other player victorious.

In conclusion we think the Paper War for 2 Players is a brilliant and innovative 2 person game. The only letdown is that you need 2 players to play this game, if the devs come up with a bot player version of the game it could be much more fun. But if you have time to kill and have a friend or someone to tag along, this is the game for you.
