HTC To Ship The Sensation and EVO 3D With Unlocked Bootloaders; Other Handsets Will Follow Soon

HTC has been selling its handsets with locked bootloaders since some time so that hackers can’t creep their way into the device. And as you would expect, many people did not like this and the company came under fire. But a couple of months ago, HTC decided to change the locked bootloader policy and unlock bootloaders with upcoming handsets. But there was no mention of any new handsets that would come with unlocked bootloaders. But looking at HTC’s roadmap for the year, we started thinking that handsets like the EVO 3D and the Sensation would feature unlocked bootloaders.
And now, the Taiwanese manufacturer has announced that the company will start shipping handsets with unlocked bootloaders from August or early September. The company gave out this info via Facebook. The first set of handsets to receive this treatment will be the Sensation (both versions) and the EVO 3D (Sprint). The remaining lot of handsets will get its bootloaders unlocked via OTA updates. This is a desperate move by HTC to gain more affection from the developer group, and to be honest it is working to some extent.
