Google Talks Gets Fully Integrated with Orkut

About a year back, Google decided to integrate GTalk and Orkut, but that integration merely allowed you to see your Orkut friends on Google Talk client. Now you can chat with your Orkut friends in real time, just like you do with any other instant messenger. This feature was long awaited since rival Facebook already had it.

This new Google Talk integration will allow you to:

  • Chat with your Orkut friends without leaving Orkut in real time, like any other instant messenger
  • Choose which of your Orkut friends group can chat with you
  • Chat with your other Gmail and Google Talk contacts from Orkut.
  • Browse through Orkut, while keeping the chatbox open.

You can control which of your friends group can chat with you from the settings page. If you are sick and tired of scrap chatting, constantly reloading for new scraps, then this is the perfect alternative!

PS: Google is slowly rolling this feature out. Looks like, I was the last one to get this feature activated :(

We just need a little more time to release it to you. Very soon you will be able to use this feature and this page, but in the meantime, you cannot make any changes to your configuration.

    heh..
  • I have stopped using orkut but with this development, perhaps it may just be interesting. Thank you.

I've used Gtalk on and off but never found it that inspiring. MSN (via Meebo) is far easier.
