Google Rolls Out Gmail Themes

Back when Gmail was first launched, it was the cleanest among all other webmail providers. Ever since then, Gmail’s interface hasn’t significantly changed. Starting today, Gmail Team has started rolling out themes to their users. You can choose between 30 different themes to customize your inbox.

If themes have been rolled out to your account, you’ll see a “New! Colours and themes” message when you log into Gmail. You can change the theme from the settings page. Just like iGoogle themes, some Gmail themes might ask your location to dynamically update the theme based on time and location.

The default Gmail theme has also been improved a little to make it look crisp and clean. Which is your favorite Gmail theme?

  • I love it. I really wanted to like the mountains theme, and even used it for a day, but in the end the chrome theme won out.
  • I had posted a comment which seems to have disappeared! Am I the only one who still uses the good old fashioned Outlook Express? I am very comfortable with it and I am unlikely to change. My gmail mail is set to automatically divert incoming mail to the Outlook Express. I find its folder and other facilities more convenient than the label system of the Gmail themes.
