Airtel has announced that they’ll be launching iPhone 3G in India on August 22nd. Airtel customers can book their iPhone 3G by logging onto airtel.in/iphone3g/. iPhone 3G features 3G networking capabilities with inbuilt GPS for location based applications and iPhone 2.0 software which supports scores of other third party applications and Microsoft Exchange.
Details regarding pricing have not been revealed, but Airtel customers will be able to purchase iPhone 3G at Airtel Relationship Centers on August 22nd. Vodafone India also has plans of launching iPhone in India, but nothing has been announced yet.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed until the pricing has been revealed.

Nice to have you back again Thilak. It is exciting news but as you say, it will all depend on how they will price the gadget. India however has a fringe element that does not bother about pricing and that may well keep a mass market from developing.

You guys are lucky there in India. iPhone hasn’t been launched in pakistan, and it doesn’t look like it will be launched anytime soon.
