I have actually silently been hoping for a bicycle feature, but this should be a nice addition too.
Sometimes Google Maps gives me the looooooooong way around when something is practically around the corner.
It will probably possible to (ab)use this for cycling as well.

I tried this feature. It i sreally cool !
