As an Ubuntu user, I always loved the default theme which was shipped with the operating system ever since Dapper Drake. People were expecting to see a visual overhaul with the release of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, but it was pushed down for the next release for some reason. The first alpha of the upcoming Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex was released yesterday, and it includes a brand new visual theme.
The new theme ("NewHuman") is little too brown and I didn’t really like it. Here’s the screenshot taken from Webmonkey:
Apart from this, Intrepid Ibex features loads of updates to the Linux kernel under the hood. The final release of Intrepid Ibex is planned for October of this year, and I hope they come up with something better because I’m not too fond of brown colored themes.
