firefox Official date has been set! The Mozilla Developers News blog has made an announcement earlier today, saying "After more than 34 months of active development, and with the contributions of thousands, we’re proud to announce that we’re ready. It is our expectation to ship Firefox 3 this upcoming Tuesday, June 17th"

Yes, there is a small possibility of a major bug being discovered, like the one found in the Mac version of Firefox 3, due to which a third release candidate was put out. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and we’ll have the browser on next Tuesday.

If you are participating in the "Download Day" campaign, then don’t forget to download and install Firefox 3 on Tuesday. Mozilla is attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours.

It’s not just Firefox, but Opera users have a reason to rejoice as well. Opera Software has announced the availability of Opera 9.5. After months of beta, Opera 9.5 is finally released. Along with the new look and feel, Opera 9.5 also features a new rendering engine for better performance, and several security measures for safe and secure browsing. You can download Opera 9.5 or read the Changelog.

  3. Thilak, hi, if you have used the betas, do you think it is worth upgrading to Firexfox 3? Are there many changes that will be noticable for everyday use (and will existing plugins work)?

  4. I downloaded the beta version and it’s been working great so far. I noticed though that some of my addons (like Check4Change) that worked for version 2 doesn’t work on version 3.

I didn’t delete my addons, I just left them there and as Mozilla continues to work on FF3 I’ve noticed one-by-one my addons are coming back and installing themselves.

Other than that, FF3 (beta) works perfectly for me.

  5. Will download Firefox on Tuesday. Only hope that there will be no bugs to screw up my happiness!

  6. I’m looking forward to the new release. I downloaded the Beta test version, but it was a little buggy. The flash plugin wouldn’t install ; (

  7. @Wii - I haven’t had any problems other than a few of my addons not being compatible - but I think they are being updated all the time to be FF3 compliant.

I’d say download it. It works the same and pretty much looks the same.

  8. @Julian Yes I did not have that problem, but my friend did.. I am sure ff3 is gonna be rocking
