If rumors are true, then Gmail users may soon have the option to change themes, just like iGoogle. According to Philepp Lenssen from Google Blogoscoped, one of his sources told him that Gmail will get custom themes. He went on to say, “the launch of this may happen within the next months. There will be 12 themes to pick from, according to this information, like a black-and-green “terminal” view, as well as a flowery view.”
People are already into building themes for Gmail, which run off Greasemonkey or Stylish extension for Firefox (like this one, for instance). It makes perfect sense for Google to come up with themes for Gmail, especially after iGoogle’s incredible growth rate.

I will defiantly be interested to see the different themes for Gmail! I think it is a great idea for them to do this!

Should be very interesting. Make it a bit more jazzy and exciting. Presently it is rather dull and practical.

Why do we need so many themes. As it is it’s difficult enough getting something you like. And then just as soon as you’re used to it…pooh…new look!

What you said is true Eva, but I have not had a gmail theme except the dark look skin. I will probably look at these to see if they are good.

I use Gmail Super Clean. Not really a fan of the darker or more complicated versions.

This would be great considering how much time I spend reading Gmail every day.
