Google has launched the localized version of YouTube for India at in.youtube.com. YouTube has partnered with several content creators like Zoom Channel, NDTV, UTV, Rajshri Group, Indiaglitz and Music Today to distribute them on YouTube India.
YouTube India will feature the same video content as YouTube’s main site, but popularity charts are based on the videos that are being watched in India. As IndiaTimes reports, Google had acquired YouTube.in and YouTube.co.in (both of which redirect to in.youtube.com) for approximately 2.44 lakhs late last year. Most of the partnership deals were signed around the same time, so we knew it was coming!

For the country that brought us Bollywood, which is getting very close to Hollywood, we’ve now got a dedicated YouTube service. The Indian market has such a rich diversity of offerings that it really appeals to me to be informed of this. In South Africa we’ve got the largest Indian population in the world outside of India, and I’ve got loads of Indian friends and business associates. This service will enable them to colour in many of the wonderful stories I’ve been told by them.
