Mininova Testing BitTorrent Powered Streaming Video

swarmplayerThere are handful of reasons why people love streaming video sites like YouTube and Hulu so much. Folks behind the popular torrent tracker Mininova are beta testing a new feature, which will allow videos to be streamed from torrent trackers.

Mininova is using the open source Swarm Player developed by Tribler to stream videos. At this point, only featured torrents will work with Swarm Player. If you would like to particpate in this closed beta, then go add your name in this topic.

Of course, streaming videos can’t be saved for later playback. But atleast, you’ll be able to stream a little and see if the video is a fake or not. Hence, you can save yourself from the disappointed caused after the download completes and the video turns out to be a fake. It’s good to see sites like Mininova try to bring technology to life, instead of just juicing more and more profits.
