Google has released a browser version of Google Sky, which was previous available on Google Earth application. Google Sky’s interface is a lot like Google Maps, you can zoom, click your mouse and drag to move around the universe or even get URLs for linking deep space objects. Just like how Google Maps has three different views (traffic, street view, satellite), Google Sky has Infrared, Microwave, and Historical viewing options.
The assignment of building browser-based version of Google Sky was giving to Latin America Code Jam, Diego Gavinowich. Some fellow Googlers shared their 20% of the time with Diego and were able to pull off Google Sky within three months. Here’s brief video tour of Google Sky:
Enough said, check out Google Sky at http://google.com/sky

Sounds interesting. Might try it out. Not that useful to me though. But all these new things that come out are tempting.

Googles eventually going to take over the world…seriously. What’s next? Google Sea — Explorer the deep blue. Hahaha.
