Microsoft Confirms Windows 7 for 2010
Microsoft has confirmed that Vista’s successor, codenamed Windows 7 is under development and is on track to be released in 2010. Following several leaks regarding Windows 7, Redmond giant finally decided to make this information public. According to their timetable, development of the next generation Windows platform should be wrapped up by the end of 2009.
We’ve been hearing a lot of rumored release dates of Windows 7 since the last couple of months, but Microsoft has just been saying that Windows 7 will take three years of development cycle. Let’s assume that the development of Windows 7 started with the release of Windows Vista. Vista was launched to businesses in November 2006, and public release took place in January 2007. Taking this into account, Windows 7 could be released in 2009, or 2010.
Why can’t Microsoft remain focused on Vista? I really don’t understand why they are hurrying so much. Perhaps, working on improving Vista through service pack would make us all happy. Oh yeah, if a new Windows platform is out, users will obviously upgrade to the newer platform and MS makes money ![]()
In other Windows related news, the standalone installed of Windows Vista SP1 will be available for download on March 18, which is just 5 days from now. Since this is the final release of Vista SP1, it would also be made available on Windows Update at some point later next month.
