MacBook and MacBook Pro line-up of notebooks from Apple just received an upgrade. Macbook just received a specifications update, whereas MacBook Pro line-up got multi-touch trackpad with which you can pinch, swipe and rotate with your fingers.
Both MacBook and MacBook Pro are now powered by Intel’s Penryn Core 2 Duo chipset. Entry level MacBook starts at 2.1 Ghz with 120 GB Hard Drive, whereas other MacBook models come with 2.4 Ghz with 160 GB (and 250 GB drive in the BlackBook). Except for the entry level MacBook (which comes with 1GB of stock memory), all others ship with 2GB of mouthwatering RAM.
Processor speeds in MacBook Pro now starts at 2.4 GHz and goes upto 2.6 Ghz. The 17″ MacBook Pro comes with 2.5 Ghz proc that has 6MB L2 cache! Hard Drives start at 200GB, but top-end 15″ and 17″ come with 250 GB drive (250GB 7200 RPM and 300GB drives are available under build-to-order option). Except for the entry-level MacBook Pro (which has 256MB of VRAM), all others ship with 512MB of VRAM on its NVidia 8600GT.
Besides Multi-touch trackpad, MacBook Pro also has an option of LED backlit screen. LED backlit screen consumers less power compared to regular laptop screens, so you can save battery and pull some minutes more. The remote control which used to be shipped as a free accessory is now available as an extra add-on, which will hold you back by another $19. Surprising!
