If you are a die-hard Firefox aficionado just like me, here’s a free browser add-on that’ll render a unique full-screen 3D experience for viewing images on the web.
PicLens 1.6 from Cooliris is a free add-on for the Firefox browser that instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen slideshow experience. It offers immersive picture browsing from popular Photo Sites (Flickr, Photobucket, Picasa, Web Albums, DeviantArt, and Smugmug); Social Networking Sites (Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, and Friendster); Image Search Sites (Google Images, Yahoo Images, Ask Images, Live Images, and AOL Images); and other sites supporting Media RSS. PicLens makes your photographs come to life via a cinematic presentation.
Using PicLens is easy.
Download Piclens 1.6 here and log on to any supported sites. Simply mouse over an image and click the PicLens button that fades in. While in full-screen mode, sit back and enjoy the slideshow. Skip to any photograph by clicking it.
The new “3D Wall” feature in PicLens enables you to instantly zoom, scroll, and go full-screen on a variety of images from across the web.
Jump between photographs or start an automatic slideshow by using the buttons at the lower-left.
Press the space bar to play and pause the slideshow, and the arrow keys to move between photographs. Press any other key to return to your browser.
Refer to this tutorial to find out what all the excitement is about.
By the way, Alex from the Cooliris Team has informed me that the IE and Safari upgrades are coming soon. I’ll keep you posted on that.

This is awesome! It comes up with thousands of images. Though it is long, it is also soo much easier than clicking “next” on the google search.

They need to support more websites. Apart from that this is a real time saver for searching a bunch of images.

Thanks, again, for blogging about PicLens. We really appreciate it!
We are working to support many more sites with PicLens. We recently added Fotki, Fototime, and many more MediaRSS driven sites.
You might be interested in our PicLens plugin for WordPress, which enables your site for full-screen slideshows. The plugin can be found at WordPress.org or on our website at http://piclens.com/lite/wordpress.php.
For your readers who don’t have WordPress, we just teamed up with free website provider Freewebs (www.freewebs.com) to make the PicLens experience available to all Freewebs users and visitors. PicLens is also compatible with Adobe Lightroom.
Thanks, again, for blogging about us. We’ve got much more to come, so stay tuned.
Kindest regards,
Alec & The PicLens Team
