Roland unveils its new CD-2e SD/CD Recorder

Roland Corporation, manufacturers of electronic musical instruments and computer-related peripherals centered on large-format color printers, unveiled its new CD-2e SD/CD recorder during the recently concluded CES 2008.

Using the new CD-2e, you can record and burn Audio CDs with amazing ease and portability. The recorder scores on its competition in terms of size and simplicity. It enables you to rehearse, recite, record, and present — rendering output to CD-R/RW or SD memory card for storage or distribution.

A stand-alone solution, it does away with the need of connecting the recorder to a computer. Absolutely no cables or setup required. With its high-performance built-in stereo speaker, microphone, and CD-R/RW drive, the CD-2e renders an out-of-the-box recording experience.

I was particularly impressed with its all-in-one portable design: sleek, sturdy, and stylish. Weighing in at 2 lbs. and 7 oz., and measuring just 2 inches thick, the CD-2e is fueled by six AA batteries, making it as one of the best portable devices ever in its genre.

Other features include extra-long recording times (over 12 hours) with 8GB SDHC card. You can analyze musical performances, courtesy several onboard playback modes, which allow you to change pitch, key, and tempo. The device has a metronome feature too, for improving timing and rhythm.

The CD-2e can be operated with a wireless remote for off-unit control of playback and recording. Priced at U.S. $ 595, the recorder is replete with an intuitive user interface, which contains an EASY GUIDE button to aid first-time recording novices in six different languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
