Amazon Sold 17 Wiis Every Second!

Amazon.com reported their strongest holiday sales figure ever. The biggest day occurred on Monday, December 10th, when shoppers reportedly purchased 5.4 million items (approximately about 62.5 items per second), but that’s a different story. The hottest thing to sell was Nintendo’s Wii gaming consoles. It quickly ran out of stock on Amazon, but when they were in stock, Amazon was selling it at the rate of 17 Wiis every second.

Some might argue that 17 wps (Wiis per second) is just a made up statistic, but it is true. Say Amazon receives 1000 Wiis in every shipment, then they’ll need one shipment every minute to have Wiis in stock because 17 X 60 = 1020. Practically possible?

In computers, the top sellers were Apple Macbook, Nokia Internet Tablet and HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook PC. Among other electronics, Garmin GPS machines, Canon PowerShot digital Elph cameras and Samsung LCD HDTVs were on the top of the sales figure.
