Wicked hackers refuse to leave any possibility of infecting the computers of innocent users. After the recent assassination of Pakistan’s first female Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, malicious websites are spreading trojans which steal personal information from infected computer.
Once infected, this trojan secretly transmits bank account details, passwords and other sensitive information which can be used to steal money or identity. This Trojan was first uncovered by WebSense Security Labs. According to them, if you do a web search for "Benazir Bhutto", you are most likely to land on a site which infects your computer. Security experts claim that every third link which comes up on Google Search is that of a malicious site.
The Trojan appears as a video of the former prime minister. It then traps the victim as a new HD codec. Unsuspecting users think that they are downloading a legitimate codec to view the video, but actually, they are getting infected. Here’s the screenshot of what it looks like:
This reminds me of the Virginia Tech incident, where malicious coders used the opportunity to transmit malware. Installing an anti-virus software might help tackle such malwares. This keeps happening after every big incident. Next time you come across such a video, report it as a phishing site immediately.
