If you’re an average internet user, then you’ll probably have atleast one Google Account. Typically, your Google Account will not provide any information about you or your online activities. In order to complete this, Google has launched Google Profile. In their own words, Google Profile "is simply how you represent yourself on Google products".
Essentially, Google Profile will show whatever information you enter on all supported services. You can customize your profile by adding your nickname, picture, location, occupation, a set of links and a short about field.
If you use your full name as your nickname, then your profile might appear in a Google Search for your name. Those reading this post in Google Reader can customize their profile by clicking on Settings > Friends tab > "Edit my profile".
Presently, Google Profile is accessible from Google Reader, Google Maps and Shared Stuff. In due course, Google will integrate profile with more and more services.

Is this different from the profile information we have in our Google email?
