Last week, Windows X released Vista Transformation Pack 8 which adds more Vista-like looks to your Windows XP/2003 machine. The latest version of VTP 8 completely replicates Window Vista without paying the hefty price or compromising on stability of Windows XP. Here’s a screenshot (click here to enlarge) of Windows XP with VTP8:

They’ve included WinFlip application, which clones the famous Flip3D task switcher for Vista. TrueTransparency 0.8.5 which bring Aero glass-like transparency effects has also been added to VTP8 pack. Here’s a brief list of changes seen in VTP 8:

  • Added TrueTransparency 0.8.5 (Glass border with ported AeroStyle skin)
  • Added WinFlip 0.42 (Vista 3DFlip)
  • Updated Vista Sidebar to version 2.3 Lite
  • Updated Vista Sidebar user account configuration in Welcome Center
  • Updated ViStart to build 2661
  • Updated ViOrb to version 2.0
  • Updated VisualTooltip to version 2.2
  • Updated Welcome Center to pre-configure user account with system optimized option on the first run in that user account

I tried VTP8 before writing this post, and I must admit that they’ve impressively cloned Vista’s UI with all those fancy elements like Aero Glass, Vista Sidebar, Welcome Center, ViStart (Vista-like start menu) and Visual Tooltip.

Previously, I had some issues uninstalling VTP. I’d advise you to create a restore point before installing VTP 8, so that you won’t run into trouble uninstalling it.
