Windows SideShow is a new technology in Windows Vista that supports a secondary screen on your mobile PC. With this additional display you can view important information whether your laptop is on, off, or in sleep mode. For example, you could read emails without turning on your computer, or maybe you could even schedule TV recording on Windows Media Center using the secondary display on top of your laptop or on your PC Case. But unfortunately, hardware manufacturers have not been so enthusiastic about SideShow, which is probably why we haven’t seen compatible hardware yet.
Earlier this month, Windows SideShow Team announced a new SDK for SideShow which supports QVGA screens and Bluetooth. These are the two things which are built into Windows Mobile devices. the::unwired speculates that a Windows Mobile SideShow application might be on its way, which means you could do a lots of things on your computer, but using your phone or PDA’s screen. Sounds really futuristic isn’t it?
Microsoft has already announced their plans for Windows Mobile SideShow program, but so far, their plans haven’t been turned into reality.
