DivShare has been my favorite file sharing service for quite a while now, but apparently, they have put up their domain name and service for sale. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the service is shutting down, but it proves that they couldn’t generate enough profits to pay the bandwidth cost. As of now, DivShare hasn’t commented anything on the auction, which makes me believe that the auction is legitimate.

Earlier this year, they launched DivShare Pro accounts, which offered FTP Uploading and an increased file size limit of 2GB for $9.99 per month or 99 cents per file. $0.99 per file isn’t really a bad deal for people who rarely use it, but $9.99 for a month is too much. You can get top quality hosting from other webhosts for a lower price and you can do lots more with it. For example, Lunarpages (aff) will give you 350GB of storage and 3500GB of bandwidth for $6.95 per month.

Users didn’t like the offer, so DivShare ditched their pro plans and launched DivShare Direct. This new scheme allowed premium users to link directly to their files and add their logo into the flash video player. Unfortunately, users didn’t find it worth the money because DivShare added some new limitations to their accounts.

  1. Well I guess it would be because of too my competition.

  2. that will be a sad news for divshare users here.. will divshare will just shutdown like any other file hosting servieces? i hope not.

  3. I do not agree with you on this. Divshare is closing because it’s losing its popularity. They have put in limitations on the accounts; it’s neither a very economic thing. Moreover it’s slow than its competitors. So I do not think there would be too many of divshare fans anymore.
