Facebook Stealing Smart Googlers?

Facebook is growing, and they are hiring. Google is probably the best place to find smart brains that have made millions of dollars when Google went public. Many high profile Googlers are now switching over to Facebook in hopes of repeating the history. TechCrunch writes “Facebook has already claimed Youtube CFO Gideon Yu, eCommerce Product lead Benjamin Ling and GDrive developer Justin Rosenstein.”

Seniors VPs at Google call this as “the Facebook Problem” because Google is losing some of its best employees to Facebook. Several sources are reporting that Google is aggressively responding to offers from Facebook by offering stock units and quick promotions to existing employees.

Justin Rosenstein, who was once a senior product manager at Google, wrote an exit letter in which he calls Facebook as “the Google of yesterday, the Microsoft of long ago”. Facebook is having a hard time monetizing their social network, whereas Google has plenty of assets and money makers. It would be interesting to see how the future of Facebook goes some 5 years down the lane.

  • With the kind of reputation that Facebook has built it can easily start some services that would generate revenue. Obviously with the help of the smart brains recruited from Google :)
  • Only time will tell...but i doubt whether facebook can repeat that...
