Microsoft India has introduced the prepaid version of Office Professional 2007 productivity suite for home and small business users. Customers can buy 6 months subscription of Office Professional 2007 for Rs. 1499 (approx $38). Once the subscription expires, customers can renew their subscription through a 3 month renew card which costs Rs. 1299 (approx $33).
To be honest, India is a place where it’s uncommon to find users buying genuine copies of software. They usually get softwares through illegal file sharing networks. Pay as you go scheme for software should work well in India.
Business users want a way to test the software with their work force before making any capital investment, so this should work well with business users as well. In a nutshell, prepaid subscription model adds both flexibility and affordability for Indian customers. Let’s wait and see if this model goes well for Microsoft India.
BTW, Rs. 1499 for 6 months, and Rs. 1299 for 3 months? Tried doing some math, but couldn’t figure it out.![]()
