Advertising programs like AuctionAds, Chitika (aff) or WidgetBucks maybe in big trouble because Google had rolled out a new type of dynamic ad which displays live product prices fetched from eBay. Here are some screenshots of these new AdSense ads (credit: labnol):

Gadget Ad

These dynamic ads will appear on some ads formats which run in your site, but only when Gadget Ads are enabled. "Ads by Google" text won’t be shown in these ads and it takes a little longer to load than traditional AdSense ads. It’s not clear whether these ads will go as cost per click (CPC) or cost per mile (CPM), but certainly not cost per action (CPA).

As a publisher, It feels good to see more and more ad formats from AdSense.

  1. I guess this means that publishers would not be able to use adsense and chitika together like they have been doing!! I think adsense has been trying to create a monopoly in the advertising business lately!!

  2. Google is probably feeling the heat from other innovative advertising start-ups. lol

  3. but it shouldn’t be a case of only google on the web :) we need competition whether or not google likes it…

  4. Google allows some of those competing ads like AuctionAds because they weren’t competing directly with the format of Adsense. I assume they will now say remove auction ads from your site if you want to keep Adsense. It makes me wonder how long before they in context link ads like Kontera or Vibrant ads.

  5. WidgetBucks is excellent. Now if only they could localize these eBay ads.

As in if someone is viewing the ad in India, they’d better show stuff from eBay.in

  6. Hmmm.. I have been trying on a eBay project recently. We’ll I suppose I would use its affiliate Widgets instead… Much better control we have then.

  7. Good News, but It seems that this feature is not available in all countries.

  8. Yes I think its only available in countries that have ebay.
