Add to Google Reader, Bloglines, Netvibes

If you have the habit of posting comments on blogs, then you might have come across email notification checkbox in some blog or the other. You’ll receive follow-up comments through email, if you select this option.

This feature has been available for self-hosted WordPress blogs as a plugin since a long time, but those using Blogger need not feel green-eyed because Blogger have just added the very same feature. Prior to this, the only way to track new comments was by subscribing to the comment feeds. This was not favorable for most users as it would increase the subscription count, and they are useful only for a limited time.

Email Follow-up

I don’t have a crystal ball, but I can see this feature coming on WordPress.com (just a random guess). Blogger can add a lot of new improvements to their comment system. I’d like to see a neat way to quote comments, or maybe directly adding comments from the post page, without being taken to a new page.

  1. [...] per renderlo noto, magari qualcuno non l’ha [...]

  2. It’s good they finally did this. Was frustrating to post something on a Blogger site then have to check back constantly to see what responses people left.

  3. same post with same snap idea :)

  4. Does Blogger have a comment feed for blogs? Well if it does it’s not in a place where I can find it.

I want a comment feed. Really annoying to check each post manually for new comments.

  5. Well, it’s nice to have that feature but at the same time, if you comment on a post that becomes very popular, you get notification every now and then, and it stuffs one’s mailbox quite a bit.

Mark Jaquith’s WP plug-in is one of the useful wp plugins out there.

  6. Chester, I just wrote about that on another blog! Too many notifications end up being like spam! Personally, I don’t want to know about follow-up comments for every single post I comment on, just a few really interesting ones.

  7. Myo Kyaw Htun: Ouch! I must have read your posts before writing this one!
