It’s hard to believe that iPod is celebrating its 6th birthday. Six years ago, on this very same day, iPod was born at the Steve Jobs Special Event. Generation by generation, iPod has just been getting more spacious and smaller, so that you can fit your music library in your pockets. Here’s a recap of the history taking place:
iPod really has changed the way mp3 is played… iTunes is selling songs bigtime and Apple’s market capitalization is more than IBM at the moment!! Apple also registered $6.22 billion revenue… Its a great B’Day for iPod at Apple!!
What about the Creative Zen? Creative invented the iPod interface and their first mp3 player came out in 2000, before the iPod. In fact Apple ask Creative to make the player for them. They refused saying they had the upper hand. Apple then stole the interface from Creative, now Apple unfairly profits while Creative loses.
The Zen line of players are great players, better than the iPod and get no recognition.
Davin: Here in India (or atleast here in my hometown) both Creative Zen and Apple iPod have almost the same market share. I think Creative must come up with something extra ordinary… say something like iPod Touch, but cheaper and better.
