Insert Files in your blog post using Live Writer

insert_files_wlw We often add images and videos into our blog post, but in some occasions, we also need to include files. Usually, we do this by manually uploading the file to some free file hosting like Divshare, or by uploading it to our server using FTP client. If you happen to be using Windows Live Writer, then the luck is on your side, because ScottIsAFool has created a Live Writer extension which allows you to easily upload files and link them on your post, just like how you add images within your post.

The plugin adds itself to the insert menu, and allows you to upload upto three files in a single go. Some providers like Windows Live Spaces, Blogger and LiveJournal do not allow file uploading. And some don’t support all file types, or limit file size. In such cases, the plugin can use FTP for publishing files.

  • What's wrong with the built-in visual editor for Wordpress? It's always been good enough for me.
  • Saptarshi: In my initial days of blogging, I used wBlogger and BlogJet, but later when WLW was released, I quickly made a jump to Live Writer. It's free, useful and customizable with third party extensions. Which blogging client do you use?
