iPhone’s built-in Safari Web Browser renders web pages exactly like how they appear on your computer. Neat indeed, but web developers took one step ahead to build an iPhone optimized version of their application, so that iPhone users can comfortably use fingers on the screen. But what if you are not a developer? Can you still optimize your blog for iPhone?
Yes! ContentRobot has built a WordPress Plugin called iWPhone which will automatically reformat your blog’s content for better viewing on iPhone or iPod Touch. The plugin works by detecting iPhone’s/iPod Touch’s Safari Web Browser and showing them a custom theme, while other visitors see your standard theme.
The custom iPhone-like theme resembles a lot with iPhone/iPod Touch’s internal applications. No zooming in necessary to read your content on an iPhone. And the best part is that it scales down any images larger than 300 pixels to fit on the screen.
I saw a preview of the theme on Firefox by checking the user agent. It looks amazingly cool, but the only downside that I can see is that it doesn’t have an option to switch back to standard version of the theme. I mean… atleast a handful of iPhone users might want to see how your standard theme looks.

Pranjal: Alexkings Mobile WordPress Plugin strips all the styling to make it light weight and mobile friendly. However, this one adds some neat javascript effects, so that it resembles a lot to iPhone’s internal applications. I have to check, if both the plugins run side-by-side

Pranjal: I don’t feel comfortable with installing too many plugins on my WordPress installation. I’ll try running both the plugins simultaneously on my local copy of WordPress, to see if there are any conflicts?
So far, did you come across any troubles?

Till now not any problems. No iPhone having friends to confirm the plugin conflicts.

Pranjal: You can try using iPhoney, if you have a Mac.
