400GB of space for emails? Why not just lug around a portable hard drive? Seriously, I just can’t see how anyone could practically use up so much space on emails, and I really can’t see how people could want to pay for it. Oh well, I guess big numbers make users happy.

I don’t use Yahoo Mail. I don’t know anyone that does use it. No one in any of my ‘groups’ use it. Anyone with Gmail doesn’t “…have to come back…” ! They never left in the first place.

There is absolutely no comparison between the MIT intelligence of the Google Boys and the financial greed of the Yahoo Gang.

Yahoo Mail is a bit annoying with ads and stuff, but though Gmail has also got ads, they’re minimal and are easily ignored.

Sankaranand: True, probably that’s the only reason why Gmail rocks till date. Yahoo! Mail just turned 10, and it’s as sucky as it was 10 years ago. I really have to congratulate Google for this!

Indyank: Yeah, hopefully GDrive will eventually come out for public. And Gmail storage space will be cheaper than our hard drives, and internet connection will be fast and unlimited… only then that day might come!

But that counter was really interesting. I’d say that it is one of the things which gave it popularity. If they go on to unlimited, I don’t think it’ll match its marketing strategies. I think it needs to innovate something different to bring back customers from Yahoo!

gmail started their service by invite mode which in turn contributed a part of success. So basically everything depends on the way of marketing !

No thilak ! i support gmail on this. Spaces are like chocolates, you have to enjoy each bite and then complete eating it. Not like what yahoo did, dumping the whole candy in mouth!

I like the way google employees think! even though now i love to see my inbox increase !
