Check for Software Updates with UpdateStar

In the past, we’ve seen great tools like FileHippo Update Checker and Secunia Software Inspector which helps you keep your softwares upto date. Both of them are absolutely perfect for any computer user, but recently I just came across a new tool called Update Star, which beats the hell out of both.

It starts by scanning your hard drive for installed programs and prepares a list of softwares which are outdated. It displays the list of software which needs to be update, along with the appropriate download links from the vendor or author of the software. The best part is that it checks both for shareware and freeware.

UpdateStar also includes the functionality of uninstalling programs from your computer, so you can use it to remove junk softwares as well. I found UpdateStar better than any other similar tool. It could have been a killer, if it could check for driver updates as well.

    Hey Thilak,
Is this article not from digital inspiration and if so why is there no source link?

    wow…this is cool :)

Actually, I got it as a tip from a reader. I do have a habit for sharing link love, if you have been my regular reader, you would know that I always link back to Digital Inspiration, if I have found something interesting in it.

If DI and TechBuzz publish an article on the same story, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it has been copied, ripped or must be given credits to.

This looks good one. Is this a freeware or a shareware or only a trial version?

    Hey Thilak,

Good post. Does this program handle drivers also? Is there a good one to auto update drivers?

    Thanks,

    Aseem

Oh pardon me sir but I was just asking due to curiousity. I did not accuse nor claim that you copied the article. I just thought you might’ve forgot to put the source and I just wanted to warn you before you get yourself in any trouble.

Thanks for these people for let it free (of no cost). :)

Good tool to have. We can just disable all automatic updater that only notifies when you are really busy and now just check when you are free…
