Vista Media Center Gets Internet TV
As reported earlier, Microsoft will be adding Internet TV to Vista Media Center tomorrow. An update which includes an early beta version of Internet TV will be pushed to all US users of Windows Vista Ultimate and Vista Home Premium tomorrow.
Most users never really use Media Center on Vista Ultimate or Home Premium edition; mainly because they don’t have the hardware required to watch TV to their computer. Internet TV feature allows such users to enjoy television and video content on their PCs with any need of TV tuner. MSN Video will provide streaming video content for Internet TV. The video content will roll advertisements provided by YuMe, and users will be able to watch it for free. Here’s what you’ll be able to watch on Media Center’s new Internet TV feature:
- Full episodes of TV shows such as the critically acclaimed “Arrested Development”
- Full-length music concerts by artists such as Chris Cornell, Snoop Dogg, Elton John, Pink, John Mayer and the Pussycat Dolls
- High-quality movie trailers from major movie studios
- The latest news segments from MSNBC
- Sports clips from FOX Sports
The video will be delivered in a high-quality format which is designed for viewing in both PC screen and TV (optimized for broadband). I personally won’t mind watching ads, in exchange for great video content. Microsoft already has enough users running Media Center, and now they just need to sign up with media partners to deliver great content and make great money!
