MySpace Logo MySpace is now trying to entertain mobile phone users with their newly launched ad-supported mobile version of their social network platform at mobile.myspace.com. With the mobile interface of MySpace, users will be able to do the following:

  • Send and Receive messages
  • Comment on pictures
  • Post Bulletins
  • Update blogs
  • Search and Find Friends
  • View or Change Mood Status

Fox Interactive Media, a division of News Corporation which oversees their internet properties said that the company plans to roll-out mobile version of other sites like FoxSports.com, IGN, RottenTomatoes.com and AskMen, if everything goes well. This free version of MySpace mobile will run side-by-side with premium subscription based version of MySpace offered on AT&T Inc. and Helio wireless services.

Fox Interactive Media has partnered with Millennial Media, a leading mobile advertising network to both sell and serve ads on MySpace. At present, ads will be shown in the form on clickable banner and sponsorship; however, in future they’ll implement stronger targeting techniques like using GPS data sent by the phone to serve local advertisement. They’ll also target ads by reading the content of user’s page and blog.

  1. Mobile 2.0 is really taking off with speed.
read my story on a Digg like clone for these mobile websites.

not sure how well the mobile ads perform for publishers if it is based on CPC and it is more likely to be cpc as even Google only supports text ads on mobile phones now.

  2. Facebook released this ages ago. And, I would only use it if there was some option to listen to Myspace music through it.

  3. That would be good idea listening to myspace music through it
