eBay improves their shopping interface

It’s an ever expanding web, and eBay is exactly like how it was 12 years ago. People seem to have started using search engines and other shopping sites to buy items from the internet. eBay has probably lost its old charm (or monopoly). And now, with all hopes of getting back people to buy and sell, eBay has changed their look and feel to make it easier and more pleasurable for both buyers and sellers.

Next time you log into eBay, you’ll notice mainly four things – My Recent Activities, eBay Categories, My eBay at a Glance and other options to start shopping. The new eBay layout is a bit photo-centric. Whenever users search for an item, instead of seeing the results in a list, they can now view them in Picture Gallery or Snapshot view.

These days, getting a facelift probably means adding AJAX to the site and making it feel more like desktop application, but it doesn’t seem to be the case with eBay. Hopefully, the new layout will help eBay get its lost charm.

These are just few of the new changes. Still waves of new changes to arrive on eBay. You can try upcoming feature on their playground.

And don’t forget to check out their new "Shop Victoriously" ad:

Ajax also helps a lot in performance apart from facelift. With AJAX, users need not not have to download more KBs for every link that is clicked and download only the KBs necessary. All sites trying to change its look and feel does give a thought to AJAX.Is it not the case with eBay? surprised!!!

I haven’t took a look at it yet, but they really needed it. Let’s hope it gets them more revenue.

The look will surely boost buyers and sellers but eBay will also have a tough competition with Facebook application ‘Garage Sale’.

Amit: I don’t think any Facebook app can give any sort of competition to eBay.

My client ask me to put thier company’s website
( http://www.expressdefense.com ) on a listing and ebay removed it. They’ve been in business since 1999 and all ebay rules were followed. Anyone know why this happened?
