iPhone unlocking seems to be the hot topic everywhere. As iPhone hackers struggle to unlock the iPhone without having to crack the enclosure, open source unlocking tool called iUnlock has been released by iPhone Dev Team. Being the first freely-available unlocking app, it takes a little more than pure guts to unlock the iPhone yet.

The unlocking procedure is a little more complicated than the commercial available unlocking application called iPhoneSIMFree, which comes with a little price tag of $99. Initially, iUnlock lacked graphical interface, but soon the developers released GUI version of the app, but still there are some bugs in the interface. It takes over 20 minutes to unlock and future versions of the app are expected to cut short this time.

Knew it wouldn’t take long for a free unlock method to come out. Must suck for the people that purchased the one earlier in the week for $100, $50 and $40 from the other places I’ve read about.
