Engadget is
reporting that Microsoft is planning on introducing internet TV to Windows Media Center through a software update on or around September 27
th. Media Center users will be able to watch free ad-supported, on-demand video content from categories like sports, entertainment, news, top picks, music and movies.
Internet TV on Media Center won’t be high definition, but the quality is said to be higher than standard definition. And HD programs might emerge in future.
Microsoft has bundled Windows Media Center software with Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Home Premium edition, so delivering ad-supported video content might prove to be a great way to make some quick cash for Microsoft. On the other hand, users can also save some cash on their cable bills.
