In just three years, the Spread Firefox campaign has hit the milestone of four hundred million downloads. It all started in November 2004, when Firefox lovers united with an intention of making the web safer and better again. They posted Spread Firefox logos on their web pages, blog or wherever they could. It took them just 99 days to reach 25 million downloads. Within a year, it grew over to 100 million. Two years later, they hit 200 million.
The number keeps doubling every year, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the actual daily users count. Most users download Firefox, but never continue using it. Recently, Mozilla had put up 12 point retention plan to improve the current retention rate.
Congrats to Firefox and Mozilla team. I’m looking forward to see the download meter climb up with the launch of Firefox 3 later this year.
