Microsoft has announced the release of a new version Windows Live Writer blogging application. The third beta of Live Writer includes several bug fixes and performance improvements along with some new features like native support for Videos using ‘Insert Video’ dialog and XHTML compliance.
Highlights of the new features included in Live Writer Beta 3:
- Insert videos using the new ‘Insert Video’ dialog – Previous versions required a separate plugin for inserting videos, but now it comes inbuilt. You just have to link to the video and the embed codes will be automatically inserted. (YouTube, Splashcast, Brightcove, Google Video, MySpace, Revver and MSN Soapbox videos supported)
- Upload images to Picasaweb when publishing to your Blogger blog – No more hassles of separately uploading images to your image hosting site when publishing on a Blogger blog. WLW will automatically upload it to your Picasaweb album and use it.
- Print your posts – Preview and Print your blog post just like how you do using your word processor.
- Publish XHTML-style markup – Live Write now generates cleaner and neater code which passes XHTML compliance.
- Justify-align post text
- Use Writer in 28 additional languages
I was using BlogJet to post all articles, but now with XHTML support, I’m back to Live Writer. Before you upgrade or install Live Writer, please note that even the standalone installer uses the new unified installer which upgrade/installs other Live services, if you agree.
[Shortcut Tip: I just found out the pasting the link from any supported video site onto the Live Writer body automatically embeds it]
