Twitter Adds Gmail Import Feature

It seems like Twitter completely lost its charm after competitors like Pownce came out with better features (I’m not sure, if I’m the only person feeling this way). They have now added an import feature which lets you check if your Gmail contacts are available on Twitter by providing your username and password. You may also invite your contacts who don’t have a Twitter account.

Currently only Gmail is supported, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they add more email providers to this list. Right now, I’m seriously pondering why it took Twitter so long to implement this feature. I’ve been seeing the same feature on other social networks.

They promise not to spam you or your friends, but still it sounds scary for me to give my Google account credentials to social sites like Twitter or MySpace. Are you comfortable with this?
