iPhone development efforts got a huge leap today, as two open source native applications made its way on to Google Code. First, Apollo IM which is a native AIM instant messaging application for iPhone. Future releases are said to include file transfer abilities with support for multiple protocols like MSN, Yahoo, Jabber/GTalk.
Second, a native IRC application for iPhone called iRCm which lets you join IRC channels and interact using raw IRC commands. Both applications have been developed using iPhone auto-updates library.
I think it’ll be stupid for Apple to not release an SDK, even after these open source codes continue to trickle out!
