Google Maps now allows you to embed maps in your web page without having deal with their API. In other words, you can embed maps like how you embed videos from YouTube. All you have to do is, Go to Google Maps, navigate to your desired location and click on “Link to this page”. And then you’ll have to copy and paste the HTML source to your website. Optionally, you can also click on “Customize and preview embedded map” to choose from different map size or choose your own width and height.
You can embed map view, hybrid view or satellite view, however, street view imagery and traffic results cannot be seen on the embedded map. I think it’s an awesome feature if you want to show your customers your business location or just want to show your readers some interesting spots on the planet.
So here’s an example of how it looks like:
The above map shows a hybrid imagery of my city (RSS readers click here, if you cannot see the embedded map correctly). You can move the map, zoom-in and out or even change the view, so your audience can do whatever they do on Google Maps, except for the fact that they are actually on you page. Cool isn’t it?
