Unofficial Google Reader Notifier

Unlike desktop news aggregators like FeedDemon or RSSBandit, web based feed readers don’t provide any sort of notifications. Fortunately for Google Reader users, there is a small application for Windows which helps keep track of your unread items by notifying. A small windows pops out of your system tray and shows your unread news items. Clicking on the notification directly takes you to Google Reader in your default browser. You can configure it, so that it checks periodically for every 5 to 120 minutes.

Additionally, you can also specify labels, so that Google Reader Notifier monitors only items from those labels. If you are someone like me, who hates keeping a lot of unread items, then this application will greatly help you.

For Mac users, there is a similar program called Reader Notifier. Firefox lovers can try out this extension.
