Dail-a-softwareUnlike Apple, Microsoft isn’t taking Indian software market lightly. They have not only started an online store for purchasing legitimate software at reduced prices, but they’ve along come up with a unique service called Dial-a-Software which lets you purchase software over phone and get it delivered to your door steps.

This service is current available in only 17 selected cities in India. In country where it is uncommon to find software stores selling legitimate software even in major metropolitan cities, it’s surely a step in the right direction.

I’m surprised to see Microsoft run their e-store through Indiatimes Shopping site, but as the saying goes “Something is better than nothing”. I wish Apple had a full-fledge hardware/software store here in India, where people are craving to get those laser engraved iPods.

  1. Great news for Indians! Hope that free one will come to my country:)

  2. India is an important marker for all IT players to look after. No one can afford to have the Indians start to promote any software other than theirs.
