TwitKu is like the Meebo for Twitter and Jaiku

TwitKu is a Twitter/Jaiku mashup which lets you control and monitor both microblogging services from a single page. It lets you post messages to any one of the account or both simultaneously.

Features include decompressing URLs which has been compressed by TinyURL, turning non-clickable URLs into clickable links, showing image thumbnail for Flickr URL and support for foreign character.

I think it’s a pretty smart idea. All these microblogging services go head-2-head, but nobody really cares about how users should be able to cross-interact with contacts from other accounts. Newly released competitors like Pownce and Yappd haven’t released their APIs yet, so there is no way TwitKu can added them, but I’m really surprised why they haven’t considered Facebook.

In other related news, Jaiku has released their Nokia Series 60 application which runs on all compatible handsets. You can download the application from jaiku.com/mobile. I think it’s pretty useless because most series 60 phones have a built-in browser. Jaiku could have followed Twitter’s path by releasing a mobile friendly web site which works across all browser-supported handsets.
